Great info. This will certainly serve you better in the field than the “paper” zero at 100 from my experience.

Great video and much more consistent at distance compared to the paper zero.

I understand what you want to do. As someone who’s been using one of these for years is put a reflective square (reflective tape works) out at distance, 500&1000m. Then you can double check super easy with the vis and call it a day. With the impact you really only need to take it to 5-600
@GideonHawk-j8i3 ай бұрын
If you align the laser and crosshairs at one distance do they stay in alignment at any distance and magnification? It makes my head hurt thinking about it
@americasrifle78683 ай бұрын
@@GideonHawk-j8i there’s slight differences at distance, but to average it out you zero at the farthest possible range. As you go out, your range finder beam is bigger than the vis laser to it evens out. The farthest you’ll be off is 100m and in, but your not missing the range at that distance

@@americasrifle7868 Thanks for the explanation there! Lots of guys like the parallel zero instead of the converging because of the offset, but if you're shooting on low zoom (night hunting with a thermal) I just want to be able to point the dot at it, I can't see .6 up at 3x. This was definitely more about how to establish a good zero, more so than the different zero types, but I think a lot of people took it as doing both.
@americasrifle78682 ай бұрын
@@FullCircleReloading I understand what a converging zero does on paper, but in the real world there’s just no advantage. Just keep it simple is my method

Yes, its now Tangent Theta.

I think you just zeroed your laser for 900 yards. The offset on paper is set to be the same at all target ranges using a reference point in your scope reticle to range a target as long as your turrets are on 0. Now you ranging laser converges with you scope reticle POA at 900 yards.
@gconnoyer4 ай бұрын
@@AlexThompson essentially, yes it is zeroed at 900. But that means from the muzzle out to 900 (or whatever zero distance you use) its only a 2.5” (or insert your offset) at the worst.
@AlexThompson4 ай бұрын
@@gconnoyer It might get the job done but the laser POA and scope POA still converge. So where the center reticle is aimed isn't where the laser will be looking at various ranges. Inside 900 it will range high and past 900 it will range low. The offset Vortex uses is something like a 0.8-1.0 mil hold under for all ranges with turrets set to 0. If he wants to point click with the center reticle just dial the elevation down 1 mil, range target, then dial the dope and take the shot... Just discussing, not arguing. Everyone has their own method by all means.
@GideonHawk-j8i3 ай бұрын
What I’ve always been confused about with these and the “zero”, so if you co align the range finding laser with your crosshairs at a certain distance they will stay co aligned at any distance and magnification?
@FullCircleReloadingАй бұрын
Theres a converging zero and a co aligned zero. The converging zero will converge gradually out to whatever distance you zeroed and then be high and rising after that. The co aligned zero will always be at the mechanical offset you zeroed it. (if your LRF is at 3" high / .6mil and you zero it at that point in your reticle, you are essentially just drawing two straight lines out to your target that will never converge so you will always aim with your .6)

I quit my job of 10 years because of how an amazing company turned bad after COVID-19. They were segregating the unwaxed from the vaxed before we found out the vax was BS. The lawyers ran the company and DEI took hold. I was up for a promotion in February 2020 and then covid happened. We didn't stop working and we were in people's homes the entire time. At the end of the year they brought that job back and no one from my division was allowed to apply and they hired a woman who had zero experience. They did the same thing to my buddy and hired a black woman when she wasn't eligible to get promoted. Oh and BlackRock had 15% stock in the company and ran everything
