I'm printing on a Canon IP8750 using the software called Print Tool by Roy V. Harrington. It is Mac only and let you use your own ICC profiles if available. I export my files for printing as TIFF/16bit in ProPhoto and open it in Print Tool for printing.

Hi Richard, thank you for your videos on the IP8750, and for championing them. I have this printer and have been very happy with it up until last week when printing from Photoshop went haywire, couldn't use color sync. I have found a fix on KZbin where I now have to save as Tiff files in Photoshop. Then open in Preview on my Mac and print from there. My colours will then print perfectly. Just wondered if you had encountered any problems recently? From reading online it appears to be an Adobe problem, not Canon.

It's really easy to solve.when you load the film, you need use your finger, pressing the number button(very tiny) which next to the shutter button to hold the top tooth of the gear to make the number greater than or equal to 0. At this time, the Pentax 67 will be triggered at any time.

Richard you set PS to manage the colour (to override printer) and THEN still set monochrome on the printer settings. I am rather confused really.

Nice video Richard. As A film shooter have you tried Nik Silver Efex - you can use various film presets like Kodak Tri-X 400 and choose a darkroom border. Just sayin✌️

Thanks for two great videos on reducing magenta in B+W on this printer. I have watched them many times and I am getting there slowly...Being 2023 now, I hope you can help with a short query: In the second video (3 years after your first) you don't mention Grey Scale Gamma 2.2 conversion. Were you still doing this as part of your work flow to get decent prints?

Do a bath of water & add a little hydrogen peroxide to give you the blue you are looking for. The print is supposed to darken over a period of 24 hours. Good Luck, have fun exploring & Thank You for the video.

Im a long time user of the Rollei 3.5f. It takes time to tune into using it BUT when you do the image quality easily the same quality as the Hasselblad 80mm and certainly better than other MF 6x6/6x7 lenses. It is a camera of its time (40s/50s/60s/70s). IMHO the Rollei superb.. for its niche areas like portraiture and street

I use Marrutt A4 265 gsm photo gloss. They will do a free ICC profile which works well on my antiquated Epson SX410. These prints have been sold. I use Qimage Ultimate to print which accepts my ICC profile. I specify the ICC profile provided by Marrutt. I use this paper because it comes boxed plus good quality. I am very interest in the IP8750 as I want more inks and greater size. Your paper looks good value. One pro which you may not have mentioned is control over the multitude of paper types as opposed to matt or glossy. I may just have missed it. I never use Wifi and rely on a proper cable connection.

5 years later, and nothing I write here will make the slightest difference, but I will pretend you posted it one hour ago: stick with it! The side-to-side thing is awkward for a while, but you can manage as long as you are not in a hurry, and at some point it feels natural. My first medium format was an old 500C, and the focusing screen was dark, the lens was sticky and the whole process was cluncky, but looking back, those photos are some of my favourite of all time. I have just purchased a 3,5F and look forward to learning its quirks immensely. In your case, I think the results speak for themselves, some really nice photos there.

Do you think this is still worth getting? I’m tempted to get it because of the grey ink ( I like shooting in b+w), but it’s getting quite old and I’m worried it will become obsolete or be hard to get ink. What do you think?

I have this printer and I now use Fotospeed papers. They supply ICC profiles for their papers with your specific Canon iP8750 and it does make a big difference. You print off their test page on any Fotospeed papers you would like to use, send them off and they will email you all the necessary ICC profiles after they have made calibrations from the prints. Instructions are on their website.

About to get my third one of these (insanity) because they only last me 6 months before the sponge is so filled with ink that it leaks onto the bottom of prints. And when you sell prints thats no good! Brilliant for anyone else, but if you are printing 100 prints a week, forget it. I'm only buying this because its cheap to run, and works out cheaper to buy a new one every 6 months than buy a professional model with more costly inks... again, insanity :D If you don't use this for business, get one, they're great but if you do a lot of printing, prepare to need a new one every now and then!

Hey Richard first of all thank you for putting these videos for the first place. I really like the quality of Canon printers. Could you tell me if and if yes how many time's you had to replace your printer head ? if no how many prints you did and did you notice any degradation of the printer head and print quality, also, what ink's do you use ? thanks a lot! greets from Poland btw.

Hi. So far I have only changed the ink cartridges in the 3 years of owning it. I don’t use it all the time, but I’ve had no issues apart from initial magenta cast on printing my black and whites. I use genuine Canon cartridges, I do this as when I had an Epsom printer and used non standard inks I had so many issues. Poland, wow KZbin reaches all over 👍

ICC profiles are usually supplied by the paper manufacturer. Unfortunately some like the paper I use don’t have any, so you would need to experiment with the nearest canon settings. Hope that makes sense and helps a little

I'm on my second Canon ip8750, been using Canon for about six years. The main thing I've found out about this printer is that you can get away with printing in the standard quality mode and not high quality mode. This gives more ink life. I've been a pro photographer all my life, and I've done tests to compare the two, and believe me, there's no difference. This doesn't apply to black & white, because black & white can only be printed in the high quality mode. Thank you for your tutorial.

David, I don't know if you'll see this or not, but thought I'd try. I've had the ip8750 for just over a year and overall love it. I chose it mainly on its ability to produce good black-and-white prints on a budget. My initial prints were pretty stunning, with crisp neutral blacks and some nicely subtle distinctions between greys. Some of those prints are hanging and have not discernibly changed. My problem came months later when I started getting b/w prints that would change over a week or two from sharp blacks to a muddier quasi-magenta. It seems this may have coincided with the original Canon inks running out and my replacing them with a third-party brand. Without making this too laborious, I just wanted to know if you use exclusively Canon brand inks or if you've found a more budget-friendly substitute which produces - and maintains - nice results. I've only used one brand of different inks so far, so thought maybe a different one might offer better results. Canon brand inks are sooo expensive, but those initial prints were really great. Thank you for any help. All the best. Ed

@@EgbertWilliams I have had this printer for 5 years (on the 2nd one now) I printed 4000 prints with the 1st one with original canon inks and the 2nd printer I got as a backup for a canon pro-1000. The 2nd one i put through various compatibles and all results were muted, no vibrancy and just not good for sending to customers. I am having big problems with color banding with the pro-1000 so im back onto the ip8750 this week with original inks again. The results are amazing and in my honest opinion its not worth putting compatibles in this printer at all. Yes the originals are expensive but using compatibles even after tweaking the color profiles a lot you will not get a decent print. Its frustrating but this printer should only be used with originals in my opinion. The canon pro-1000 works fine with compatibles but a full set of compatibles is 300 vs 600 pounds and the results are good (Not amazing though)
