Nice video. Glad to see you received knives without flaws, I have two of their more expensive models, and both have plenty of dissapointimg flaws. So, there is a question of consistency with BR. I still love my BRs and the immense impact of their legendary blade and handle design on the bushcraft and survival knife industry is undeniable. They should step up their qc as well as general quality when you consider their competition. I have a comparative video you may find interesting: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iaemn59jfNWsorcsi=VLzkTYcQHQnCGbUW

I appreciate you taking the time to do this demonstration. I'm considering the Delta Shield for my Esse Izula, belt carry. Do you feel like it adds significantly more bulk in comparison to a kydex sheath?

I recently decided to try bark river. It's a Bravo 1 in cruwear with elk handles and mosaic pins. It is absolutely beautiful. A week later and I've ordered 2 more, a magnacut classic hunter (in black and white pinecone) and a tope recon. There are a few others in my wishlist but for now those will have to do. As a small knife collector I just got into fixed blades with a B.R. being my third, I think I've found my favorite fixed blade manufacturer.

I will not judge you ...I too am sick . I am a knife junky , I love blades like Tops and other random brands especially Enzo Brisa and other European scandi style knives. I prefer carbon old-school steels and I love making my own from puukko blanks. The best knives are the ones ya build to your liking IMHO ...Its not for everyone though but, boy its a satisfying feeling finishing a project knife. Barkies are beautiful. I'd like a Bushcrafter Lt or small gunny someday, but I always think about how many knives I can buy or build for the cost of just one brk. That said , I bought a Benchmade Bushcrafter a few years ago and it lost its fizz after a month. I do like the knife but it had quality control problems. I fixed the edge reprofiled it to actually cut wood not just paper. Also the handle was freaking lopsided so I had to get it even. Im not big on returning knives unless they are fully unfixable . It did take the fizz out of my disire for $200 to $300 knives. Probably a good thing 😂 Yet here I am waiting for a Tops Tanimboca Puukko to arrive 😏

My main concern with this method is overheating the steel and destroying the temper.
@danielmacdonald5779

to harm the temper it would need to get too hot to hold
@thechumpsbeendumped.7797
@thechumpsbeendumped.7797 6 ай бұрын
@@danielmacdonald5779 That’s true but you don’t hold the blade at the edge where it’s hottest and by the time the heat dissipates through the blade to where your fingers are the temp at the edge is considerably higher. Whether that gets high enough above 200°C a lot of steels are tempered to to detrimentally change the hardness depends on the particular steel. I’ve sharpened a few cheaper blades with a 1x30 and got a visually good looking result but I’m reluctant to use this method on knives that cost hundreds of pounds just in case. For those, I use either a whetstone sharpener or a fixed geometry sharpener with diamond plates, because I know that although it’s slower I can get hair whittling results really easily, especially on the second one.

Fit and finish is one thing. The one 1 saw just looked crude. Whoever made the drop point with a crooked gap bolster that i purchased has no buisiness making knives. I sent it back 4 a better one or a refund, we'll c how it turns out.

I bought three Bark River Puukko knives and here is my only complaint! The problem is with the leather sheaths. The leather sheaths are rather short for the size of the Puukko. (The knife keeps falling out!) The Puukko's are the only knife I cannot safely carry because of fear of losing the knife... (Bark River leather sheaths suck.)

I wouldn’t sharpen on a grinder. Get a high quality resin bonded diamond stone. Your edge will stay sharper longer. Those aluminum oxide belts tear the carbines right outs your edge. Not to mention the heat you build up on the surface going that fast. I’m sure someone will say well that’s how they sharpen at factory…n that’s by the blades never straight. Ever blade usually comes revive at the plunge line. I always end up fixing it starting from 120 working my way to 2000
