Hi Amy, I am looking at buying the 3F taiji 2 tent but just wondering how waterproof it is because I noticed that you have a trap over yours at picnic point.
@AmyOutdoors
@AmyOutdoors 3 ай бұрын
@@ralphhalwes3376 G'day Ralph. Yep, it's plenty waterproof... I've had mine in a few storms without a tarp over it, and I've been nice and dry inside. I use the tarp for a few reasons... 1. To blend into the environment a bit more, I.e. camouflage - this was the main reason I did it at picnic point, I didn't want to draw too much attention to myself. 2. To keep heavy dew from wetting the tent if I have to get up and away early. 3. To make it darker in the tent at night during full moon (otherwise it's like sleeping under a street light!) 4. For shade during summer, so I can sleep in past first light without my tent turning into a sauna 5. When it is due to rain it gives me somewhere dry to put my gearbags, and to sit and cook without getting wet... the awning the tarp creates makes camping in the rain a generally lovely experience because I can sit outside and watch the rain on the river... and know Incan pack up a dry tent in the morning! Packing up a wet tarp and a dry tent is much nicer than packing a soggy tent and then hoping it'll have time to dry before you put your gear in that night, because a scrunched up wet tent means a wet tent inside and out when you pull it out of the stuff sack... doesn't matter how waterproof your tent is, if you pack it up wet the water seeps everywhere through the tent. So yeah, my taiji tent is excellent, and has never leaked... they're a great tent. The benefits of a tarp over a tent, any tent, are always worth the painful exercise of putting it up each night I reckon... I rarely camp without a tarp over my tent now, no matter what the weather forecast is.
