Nomad Sculpt. It's coming to desktop for peanut price and once it spreads its legs, it really should spell BIG trouble for Zbrush. Pros in the 3D field are still largely oblivious to just how great piece of software Nomad really is

I relate to this alot and you're right to say surround yourself with people who think alike with you and higher than you in a similar perspective. I enjoy listening to all this advice especially from an artist like you. You inspired you a lot sir. May GOD bless you to give more advice to young souls like me🙏

This is a good video for baking. Can you make a video or tell us how to combine the texture map,,? Cause with this method we will have multiple normal map, roughness map etc. I want to take the textures to unreal 5
@EdgeloopAcademyАй бұрын
You don’t need to combine them. For AAA games you need separate maps per asset.

Design skills are very important as it’s something that not only will give you tools that will help you have content made by you. Meaning it won’t be sieved anywhere else. Also will give you the eye for detail and will increase your art skills as a whole.

I hope I meet the criteria’s that you speak of. I really want to be character artist so bad to the point that I’m willing to spend whole days on developing the skill. But you are absolutely right about communication and ego. I think the reason why that comes is because the job is hard. I’ll do my best to become a great character artist. But I know for certain that I have to study lots of anatomy of faces, bodies, animals. The first step is anatomy for me then sculpting in ZBrush better (a whole lot of better and doing thousands of sculpts and characters) then learning the anatomy of clothing and building clothes. I think it’s also important to have fun along the journey. The process is different for everyone.

Hi Siamak, does the resolution of the monitor we use for sculpting matter(I am using pen tablet. Wacom intous pro Small)? And what is the model of the monitor you are using? Thank you!

I agree, AI and the human brain both reference others to create something. But the difference is that humans need to make a living to survive in a capitalistic society. AI doesn't. It's effectively putting 80% of those referenced artists out of work and on the streets. The artists are involuntarily PARTICIPATING in their own downfall. Its fucked The worst thing about all of this is how exciting the development around AI and technology in general actually is. It could've been so amazing. But like this its just sucking all of the joy out of everything. And I don't even blame AI, I blame the humans who don't care about creating a world where everyone actually has a chance of becoming happy and secure.

It would be great, of course, to have savings for a couple of years, but working as a character artist in Europe I have a net income of 2000 euros/month, while spending 1000+ per month just on renting an apartment. So making big savings in this situation doesn't seem realistic :(

looking for a job past 12 months. Can't say, just with 2 years game industry experience i found myself in tough situation - especially that I live in europe, where most of studios are in UK and they are forced by their government to fire British citizens first (outside of UK need to have guarantee X amount per year and companies just don't have that kind of money). it is hard. Thanks for share your research and point of view.

What I hope for is that may these layoffs give rise to a new wave of indie devs who actually care about games rather than how critiques and investors rate them based on how much they can pander. Hopefully that should reset the cycle. I still remember the story of blizzard, bunch of passionate college bros making a game.
@EdgeloopAcademy8 ай бұрын
I believe that will happen again. Cycles work this way always. Something new starts, grows to the top, gets the crown and then collapses! I am pretty sure some of these big studios will collapse and new studios will form.That is how the universe works. I predicted the fall of Activision Blizzard back in 2021 and this is the start of that!

For someone who has a real time portfolio, excited to work in games, create amazing characters. This just feels so sad man. I am still being an optimist and hoping things will get better. Good luck everyone out there!!

I totally know the feeling. I am optimistic for 5-10 years after 2024-2025 but after that I believe a depression period is coming worldwide similar to 1929. We have to use the time now and we can deal with the rest if we get to live 10 years from now. Stay optimistic and do what makes your life joyful.

Layoffs like this one doesn't happen in Japan, due to labor laws. The excutives need to cut their salaries and bonuses before laying off people, they need to prove that there is no o ither way. Very different philosophy over there.
