I have a question please. Have you ever made your own neoprene socks before? I'm wondering if it would be possible to use a pair of regular wetsuit neoprene socks to make a pair of replacement drysuit socks with, by simply sealing up all the seams. Have you ever done this? Thank you in advance.
@DrySuitProjects
@DrySuitProjects 8 ай бұрын
Stitching the neoprene requires special machine. Usually one doesn’t have it at his disposal. So - no
@pinnacledivingco
@pinnacledivingco 8 ай бұрын
@@DrySuitProjects But a pair of neoprene socks are already stitched? Wouldn't it be possible to simply turn them inside out and seal all the seams, and them attached them to the suit? What about using trilaminate material to make a pair of socks from scratch? That should be easy to stitch. 🤔 Maybe?
@DrySuitProjects
@DrySuitProjects 8 ай бұрын
@@pinnacledivingco sorry, didn't understand it from the beginning. The wet suit neoprene socks(if you have such a wetsuit) will be probably much narrower at the ankle, so it won't fit right to the dry suit.

Few questions. What are you using in your dremel to sand off the old stuff? Is the aqua tape the heat and stick kind? Do you just not heat it?
@DrySuitProjects
@DrySuitProjects 11 ай бұрын
Sometimes the glues previously used are not susceptible to the heat. Another point against using the heat gun is that it “revitalize” the thermal glue used before. So getting rid of the old glue becomes nearly impossible

Haven’t seen issues from ones flexing their shoulders. There is a possible wear from backplate and shoulder straps rubbing against the unprotected zip, though. Which is true for a brass zip at same extent

Is there any advantage to using nail scissors instead of a seam ripper? Nail scissors are cheap enough I could go grab a pair, just wondering if it makes a big difference or not
@DrySuitProjects
@DrySuitProjects Жыл бұрын
I'm trying to using the fancy tools here, but rather those everybody most possibly has. Also, the seam reaper was tough to use sometimes and I ended up biting into the suit fabric with it. But may be its just me...
@ryebrye
@ryebrye Жыл бұрын
@@DrySuitProjects I did mine with the seam ripper (because I don't have nail scissors, but did have two seam rippers in my sewing kit) - I did bite into the fabric once before I got the hang of it. (Fortunately in an easy part to patch) The technique that worked best for me was being very careful at cutting the seams at the start (from the outside, one stitch at a time) and then when I got it separated I could slide the seam ripper in between the lip that was stitched and the zipper and slowly push the seam ripper forward and take out about 3-4 inches of seams at a time.
