Thanks for the brutally honest review. I find in this day and age that a lot of gamers don't have the capacity to look at something critically and there's so much garbage out there. It's really sad to see Harvest Moon fall so far from grace and it's hilarious that somebody could actually defend this travesty. At least I have Stardew Valley which is everything I ever wanted and more.

Can we please have marriage candidates that actually look like adults please please please marvelous I am BEGGING. im so sick of the lolishota bullshit. Also it would be great if for once they'd let us do like an animal crossing top down view when placing furniture. the fact the everything had to be like a foot from the walls made me actively homicidal.

As far as this game goes, I will definitely say it was disappointing. I preordered it because I was excited to try a new HM game, but I wasn't thinking about how SOS is much better these days than HM. It's sad, because I grew up on these games since I was 4, so I at least wanted to give it a try. I will say that if you manage to afford the huge house and get married, (My choice was Braden) it does start to feel a little more like those old HM games; you're free to live your life doing whatever you want, you celebrate festivals with your spouse, raise a child, take care of your farm. So basically, after you manage to finish the main plot, then it starts to feel more like a HM game and it's not terribly bad.

I really didn't like the gameplay loop in this game. It was too focused on loot and makers. You would wake up and 50 new trees would sprout all over your farm for the sole purpose of being chopped down. Then you'd collect the lumber and put them through 3 different makers to make them into usable materials. The game should be called makers of olive town. Also the way you're expected to just mow down trees and rocks in the dozens feels more like diablo or dynasty warriors than a humble farm sim.

To get a third blob, you can get a free egg from Flint's parent as they sell eggs(although the first is free)

I was soooo hype for Neil to be in this game (see my profile picture lmao) and oh my god how did they flop so hard with this?! The areas are dead, in fact the whole game just feels so soulless 😭 it just all feels so rushed. Majorly disappointing entry to the SoS series. Really hoping the next one has QoL improvements and PORTRAITS PLEASE

got back into the game recently and the 1.1.0 update caused a bug for me that at every festival date the game gets stuck on a loading screen google says its because of an issue with dlc characters placement in events. because i cant roll back the update on my switch my game is permanently toast. got around this issue by downloading yuzu and playing on the steamdeck on version 1.0.8 >.>

I don't know why but the fact you mentioned Grandia got me excited! Not a lot of people are familiar with that series.

This was one of the very few 3D games I backed on kickstarter. Making simple blobs is MUCH more achievable than all the other crazy detailed 3D games.

I played the demo of this during Next Fest and it was really good. I will definitely be picking this up one it leaves early access.

I don’t argue with any of your points. But I have a lot of hours in this game because I love taking the core rags-to-riches run at a quick pace, ignoring the parts of the game that I don’t find satisfying. I have bouts of depression, and PoOT consistently delivers the little serotonin hits when I’m not quite up to the slightly grittier Stardew.

All I want is a Trio of Towns remake.. I loved it so much

Same sex marriage is not a big addition, unless they actually have different dialogue or scenes taking that I to consideration. Otherwise is just a boolean and they make dialogue generic. Is axtually less work, which axtually makes sense considering the dlc situation

Still havent finished my game. Last few years have been tough. By the time this game came out, Stardew Vellet had blown up. It did so well and attracted so many people, even those who weren't already into the genre, and it was clear based on the design choices that PoOT wanted a slice of that audience SV created.

Praying that the love interest look like adults and not children. Love interest ranging from the characters age to slightly older would be perfect. Other than that I agree with the points you brought up. I also want the farming to be different, I don't like how we cant move our camera when watering crops, harvesting and planting.

Yes but I feel like I’m the only who feels New Horizons didn’t really have that much of a long lasting gameplay. New Leaf felt much more engaging to me. I think 2026/7 is what Nintendo will target for the next AC game. Since it is a community heavy game, they will want their next console to stabilize in the market first.
