does anyone know why when i load up the map in tf2 i s[awn into the void? I've tried to move the spawn and I've changed it to specific teams but i always spawn under the map help would be appreciated.

For the viaduct formula, 2, 3 5. 2. 5, 3, 2. It goes 2 spawn doors, 3 paths, 5 route/flank options, 2 point sides, 5 route/flank options, 3 paths, 2 spawn doors. If you are doing a Koth map these numbers will probably vary, but make sure each team has an identical reversed pattern split by the point sides.

I would also recommend watching a lot of the developer commentary on the 'feel' they wanted to get for TF2. It is super important you understand that washed out colors are the rage with TF2, and while yeah you can make your gibus a neon shade of green, but you don't want the map to be that.

Offtopic. I'm new to sfm and I ran into a problem importing custom tf2 maps from the workshop (bsp format), when loading it says "no maps loaded", if I try again, sfm will crash, who understands this, help me solve this. There are only 3-4 guides on KZbin from 10 years ago that, well, don't help much, so I don't know where else to look for a solution)

Help please, I only get a bunch of lines without texture, press enter as it says in the video to put the textures of the floor but nothing happens and everything is only with lines until in the engineer it only appears to me made up of lines

I dont know if you check comments anymore, but I ran into an issue about when you spawn in a door looking this the categories tab. the "ABS TF2- Doors" it won't show up. Is there something missing from the prefabs? or do I have to physically make the prefabs? o.O

always assumed spookyridge underworld was inspired by Metroid Prime 2 Echoes and its concept of Light and Dark Aether, given the light and dark portals look like theyre ripped straight out of that game

I just finished this tutorial series and wow... I never thought id really get into making maps, but your series showed me otherwise! I loved this series so much, from following chapter 1 & 2 step by step to then binging chapter 3 (as it was more "what to do when making a map" rather than "how to make a map"). My only complaint is that there isn't more of it! When I finished I realised I never manually made a prop door (I got called a cheater for nothing!) or that we never got that later episode on portal files and func_detail. But that aside this was a great first step for me and all I can say is thank you Crash! As a comparison I tried learning SFM multiple times through the official valve tutorials but every time I was bored out of my mind and eventually got disinterested, that's what I thought would happen with hammer but YOU managed to create such an interesting and engaging tutorial that if it wasn't for this SPECIFIC series I wouldn't be plotting out my first (non test) koth map on paper. So again, thank you so so SO much Crash and just letting you know if you ever wanted to continue this series I can guarantee that one of the views on that next video will be me!

FIXED: I selected every HINT face with the texture edit sheet and applied the same scale and coordinate to them all, same thing for SKIP and this fixed the issue, craaaaazy stuff.......... I'm going through a similar insane error on my map, i already know it's some hint+skip cause it works fine when i turn them off, and i have a backup file from yesterday that works well... So i removed only the hint+skips from the progress of today by comparing the current version with the version of yesterday but the problem persists for some reason. try 2: i got to the cordon technique and guess what, the error simply does not exist when using cordons, i split the map in 4 squares going out from the same central point, and ran each one and there was no errors, but then when compiling it all there it is again, im getting CRAZY XD

Long shot, but do you happen to use the skip brush method for rotating symmetry on the map? I had an error once because I wasn't cleaning those brushes up after and I ended up with a ton of huge ones.

I appreciate the reply, but i just fixed it by selecting all the HINT faces using the trick you presented at 4:00 [Thanks by the way :)] and applying the same coordinate and scale to them all, and then did the same for all the SKIP faces and it worked, i thought of that cause recently i faced the "texinfo" limit issue and had to do that to other textures, and it worked on this case too even if it had no relation to the Texinfo thing. On the tech side of things i have no idea what was going on and haven't found anyone talking about this specific solution anywhere else, usually the "[warning - face vectors parallel to face normal. bad lighting will be produced]" (The issue at hand) has other fixes so i honestly can't make any connection on to why texture on a brush would mess that up, i hope if someone faces the same issue on the future they end up on this video as i did and then finds these comments... The OBSCURE on the title makes all sense, i was kinda mad about my own issue and that was the only word i could relate to the problem hehe

yeah, but either way I’d love to see some of the features the frontline project implemented into the new map you’re working on, not necessarily reusing the old assets but the concepts you put out there during the frontline project would go a long way imo

I'm calling it Gävle on the Workshop, and if it gets in, I'd push for it to be in the menu/ loading screen as well, I just worry about it messing with search results in some situations. But I hear you, it's very American of me, lol
