Holy heck, you guys actually did it. I came back to TF2 after a long hiatus after hearing about the new maps and the surge of players, and I can't remember the last time I had so much fun in the game. After all these years TF2 still manages to achieve it's goal of being a casual multiplayer experience that so many other games have since tried and failed at.

Its there philosophy, they same philosphy who makes valve and everything that came out of it, including TF2. They are a creative bunch first and they like to keep the company small, so it doesn´t end up becoming a soulles husk where on side doesn´t know what the other one does, besides being greedy and lazy. @@frogeguy4802 Looking at CSGO and what of a typical trend coping soulles copy-past it has become with all those stupid "Events" and such, i rather see TF2 be abandoned for good. Seriously, i already saw TF2 as practicly complet and down, back at the "Love & War" update. But people just want more without actual direction. And so we got the worst updates of all time: Gunmettle, Thoughbreak and Meet your Match. Which i just wish to be rolled back with a few exceptions like the multi-class cosmetics and the weapon rebalancing. I miss random damage and halloween gifts you could just find on the map. And don´t get me started on the quicksearch that allowed you to also find community servers, plus all your friends could just join after you via steam. I think we should just leave TF2 now as it is or me might end up in a remaster, remake, "GTA definitive edition" situation.

I've always thought a community 'catch-up' map pack featuring non-Halloween/Christmas versions of existing maps would be fun. I think they'd have to stagger the content now since there are so many, but there are a whole bunch of maps which have event versions in the game, but not the originals. Would be an easy add, really.

It'd be great to finally have maps included in the summer update. But it'd definitely also be awesome if we got some sort of spring content update at the same time. It can be a bit jarring and saddening going from a content update in Summer, around Halloween, and Smissmas, to waiting half a year for it to be Summer again for the next content update.

I've seen some great maps in development on tf2maps, and the steam workshop and it's been a shame thinking that most of these barely have a chance due to them not working with the 'update cycle'. Man seeing how much the game has prospered and having it stem from 1 well wrote respectful letter to Valve has really shown me how many communities * cough * Destiny 2 * cough * could learn from the TF2 community, that being constantly negative towards the games company (even when said negativity is somewhat justified) just gets peolle no where More people could learn from the phrase "respect works, negativity doesn't" because if this was instead what many communities do and was a complaint list filled with negative comments like "god this game sucks" I can almost guarantee Valve would have ignored it As much as I have to thank Valve, I have to lend a thanks to you and every single person who signed that letter, I see no world where Valve would have done something without it

While the game doesn't get as much love from Valve today, we're still trying producing unique experiences for this game. But it only has a chance of it being part of the main game that will probably be part once a year and because of burnout, we're slowly stopping to make maps for the game we love. For things I wish to see more from Valve, probably mvm maps/missions. MvM has been my calling since I started playing tf2 back in 2019. thank u for saying this, haven't been a fan of maps getting smissmas/halloween re-artpasses in the workshop. Tons of maps look great on their own merit with the regular TF2 theming but lots of the reskins feel lazy and forced just because it's necessary in order to be added to the game nowadays

I've made them myself, I will say I do enjoy the process of making them and giving new life to something older, I think there is value there, but it is getting frustrating having older projects sitting around with zero chance of consideration unless I do that to them.

no, this isnt some coincidence or prophet, this has been a thing mappers have been telling volvo, crash here with everyone else behind him spearheaded this the crazy part is volvo fucking listened in less than a DAY after the video went up this is direct cause and effect

Also, I think many Smissmas and Scream Fortress maps really need to just be temporarily in the game. At present, the game is getting bloated with a bunch of maps that are only being played part of the year. While I have no problems with what ever is viewed as the 'best' of these maps returning for following years, others might be better off removed after the event is over. Feel like TF2 is now 50% holiday themed maps now.

suggestion: the idear of a mid year update would be nice to be outside of halloween or smismess reskin maps, even if said maps are tempoeral to prevent gradual bloat on hard drive over time, it will allow creators to have a optunity that inst stuck to just smissmess or halloween hats too. as much as i hate the idear of a "battle pass" but paying £5 for a contract pass would allow map creators to recive a finacial reward, after all i see hats being more purchased then map stamps, the only problem then is having a reward system in place for said contract pass. the pros: allows mappers to get financial reward for thier efforts and a chance to show off thier work for the game they love the cons: a reward system in place would require creators of cosmetics who may be affected by a %cut on who gets paid what work around: contract system rewards "tickets" which is used to purchase valve content, i.e paints, name tags ect, that way no one is having a % cut taken from them, and may actualy encourage purchases of the contract as it can be a way to get items once lose to past crates (strangifiers/ kill streak kits ect)

Mappers actually already get a percentage cut from keys sold from those events in addition to stamps (which you are correct, barely sell), so I don't think a battle pass would be necessary!
