So bummed, when I went last year, Wildcat was totally under water and we couldn't play it. I'm for sure going back soon!

This is completely wrong. It has nothing to do with extra weight, it has everthing to do with the nose angle. The air pressure is literally pushing on the sprue like a handle, which will obviously push the nose down. This causes gyroscopic precession, which is a fancy way of saying the plane of the disc moves to the right. This is why discs with a nose angle that tilts downwards is understable. The air pressure at the front pushes the nose down, which causes precession - aka it turns right.. Overstability works the exact opposite, and if the sprue were on the top of the disc it would make the disk more overstable instead of understable.

It probably flies like that because of the way that it is.

The instability of the sprue is the problem. A stable sprue would result in a smoother turbulence resistant flight

What about a half sprue, I could imagine the full length sprue has a destablising waggle. Oh, and it's not science, it's pressure physics of casting liquids.

Your disk is 3 dimensional and you moved your center of gravity in addition to the aero effects of the sprue you have introduced a wobble as the wind resistance along the edge of the disk pushes above the center of gravity that the angular momentum is fighting to keep stable

i have it in the side of my bag, used for very specific shot on my home course, where it has a lot of trees but a good line for a sharp diving forehand, as the hole is downhill by about 50-100ft elevation and about 200-300 ft forwards, drops perfectly and we've even skip=aced before :)

Increased heart rate during competition is fine. Now, if it turns out to be elevated blood pressure, then that's a problem.

Just finding your channel, and your content is pretty entertaining (in a good way). Not that you've asked, but such a round on such a course is probably okay for your first time playing it. Why don't u empty your bag at the holes though and see which discs really work best for the shot?

Could that be the Magnus effect on the sprue? It’s the effect that curves tennis balls downwards with topspin.

You posted your first video on my 10 birthday😂 legit tho
@richlaue8 күн бұрын
You can make a paper cylinder to fly by giving it a spin at launch. With this spinning screw their will be one side that the air is flowing past faster than 4tg others side. The sprue would naturally be pulled the tge side with the faster air. In this case the left, which tilts the right side down.

“Under stable”? Huh?

Turn to the right was my guess! I felt like the drag on the sprue would pull down, but due to gryoscopic percession that'd actually pull the disk down on the right, not the front, giving a curved flight path. And it'd go left if thrown left handed.

The Sprie is the reuslt of a "Mould Gate", whoch is an entry point for the plastic material to "Flow" into the mould/mold. It is ALWAYS trimmed off.
@ChuckDGard10 күн бұрын
In the real world.... it's not always trimmed off well though. Operators are often pushed to go faster faster faster and inevitably you end up with missed sprues or poorly cut ones.
