All the toys are suffering from depression. They're all very sad because they do not have children who love them. Plus, this is a children's show and that subject is a little too deep for a child. When I was a kid , I always thought she was there because she cried frozen tears. That's a pure and wonderful thought to come from a child's perspective. So, to me, that's the answer. I've actually played ALL the AC games and by far the best one is the first game on GameCube. AC GCN was way more fun and actually felt like a real town. I play AC to talk to villagers and have fun around town. Not design every last pixel of the town.

I think the reason why Del looks the way he does is that he had served as a sailor in the navy but was injured during combat. As a result, he was given cybernetic implants to help him live, meaning that he would technically be a cyborg. Because if you look inside his mouth when he speaks, he appears to have a natural-looking tongue which suggests that he may not actually be 100% machine. Also unlike the other robot villagers except Sprocket, his eyes don’t glow in the dark.
