Yes, the stock has been built over the past 45 years, and used on West Chiltington, Pulborough, Brighton Road, Plumpton Green, and now Ouse Wharf.

yup lovely layout gladitis preserved. knew Pulborough well. Hmm.....thinks...wonder if Midhurst trains stabled overnight at Pulborough ready for the next dayto return or everything went back to Horsham at night. Or maybe a pick up goods stabled overnight on the way to Midhurst .Chichester . Presumably London for Midhurst line passengers always had to change at Pulborough ...or perhaps fast to Horsham for local even picking up at Christ Hospital? Petersfield passengers would go via Guildford to access Guildford to Horsham line? Through trains from Horsham-Pulborough to Petersfield or change at Midhurst? Would be kinda the long way round...might suit some ...

Interesting questions. It would need a detailed study of a working timetable to answer your queries. The only thing I can add is that I believe there were occasional slipped carriages at pulborough for onward travel on the Midhurst line. Never seen this on a model but would be possible with DCC?

The wheelbase is the same, 7'9"+7'6"+6'3". However, the E5 chassis is 9" longer than the E4, 3" extra at the front ( 6'3" vs 6'0") and 6" longer at the back (5'0" vs 4'6"). Your suggestion may be possible but you'd need to compare the outlines. My two E4s are Steyning kits with scratchbuilt chassis, and the E5 is scratchbuilt. I hope that helps?

@@Night_Ferry They are kits with scratch built interiors. They were produced by a small trader called Smokey Locos. I bought them in about 1995, but they remained unbuilt until my son made them a couple of years ago.

There is no way this is a representation of Plumpton Green railway station. The station only has two lines, no sidings. The colours are totally incorrect. The only similarity between your model and the actual station is the signal box (before automated barriers were installed), the house beside the railway crossing and the number of platforms.
@barryluck16256 ай бұрын
@@MelindaGregory-w9r I'm amused by your comment. Firstly there is no such station as Plumpton Green, just Plumpton. Secondly I have never claimed it is an accurate copy - all of the information I have given out makes it very clear that I have made alterations to make it a more manageable size, and interesting to operate. I've no idea where your comment about colours come from. Are you old enough to have seen the station in 1910. Do you have an amazing colour photo from 1910. Do you know anything at all about LBSCR station colours?

@smhorse3 ай бұрын
A few of the ex-Albion kits were taken on by Roxey Mouldings, but I'm not sure if the B1 class is one of those. It's worth asking them, anyway. Warning: Despite its apparent simplicity, the kit isn't easy to build, and the instructions need several read-throughs. The diagrams are all hand-drawn and not exactly the most understandable, either.

An excellent rendition of this LBSC station and it’s surrounds. Pendon standard at the very least. We would stop briefly here on our trips to the coast in 4COR or 2BIL days. Standing in the corridor was the norm on a Saturday in the 60s. Make sure you were in the right half for Chichester too! Love it.

❤🎉 absolutely amazing and wonderful. As a Southern driver of many years calling at Pulborough almost every day it is fantastic to see it in it's full splendor. Fantastic filming also, how did you get such a good depth of field?
@barryluck16259 ай бұрын
Nice to hear from somebody who knew the station! There are two things which help with good depth of field. One is to use good studio lighting, which I was able to do with the Plumpton videos, under controlled conditions. I have two softboxes, each with five 600w flourescents, giving a total of 6000w. The other technique is to take the video from a reasonable distance (say 6ft) with the focal length at mid-range (ie not telephoto) and use software to pan and zoom to get the close ups. I hope that helps.
@ModelRailwaysUnlimited9 ай бұрын
@@barryluck1625 hi Barry, yes thanks. I tend to get the camera in really close at F11 but your approach sounds very interesting.
@barryluck16259 ай бұрын
I use a 4k Sony camcorder which has no direct control over aperture so good lighting is the best solution. 4k video allows you to zoom in using editing software by a factor of 2 without any noticeable loss of picture quality.

Hi there, oh my word I am in awe 🎉 amazing layout and actual working block instruments and a beautiful lever frame, truly outstanding. How are the remote messages generated?
@barryluck162510 ай бұрын
There are fiddle yards at either end of the layout representing the signal boxes either side of Plumpton. There are block instruments in each fiddle yard, (identical to those shown in the video) so there is two-way communication between the Plumpton signalman and the two fiddle yard operators. The block instruments are used in a more-or-less prototypical fashion to control trains arriving at or leaving Plumpton. I hope that answers your question?

@barryluck1625 Жыл бұрын
Pulborough was built by the Mid-Sussex 1883 group, a Scalefour area group. In 1997 we embarked on a new layout called 'Brighton Road'. Various members of the group moved away and we disbanded sometime around 2005. Brighton Road had a brief period on the exhibition circuit but was dismantled in 2014. In 2012 my son and I started a new layout 'Plumpton Green' which has been exhibited many times over the past ten years. (We own all the stock which ran on Pulborough). We are now building a smaller layout 'Ouse Wharf' which will be exhibited at the Bluebell in July, and Uckfield in October. Details of all these layouts are on my website here: www.lbscrmodels.co.uk/index.html Search for 'This is Plumpton Green' om KZbin
