The sound makes watching the operation a lot more "immersive". Thank you!

Atmospheric and unhurried operation of a lovely little railway. A pleasure to watch. Thanks

Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed watching the video as much as we have in creating it.

Very impressive. How is the sound done? The engines drifting with regulator closed is nice.

Hi Dominic, the sounds are of real steam engines. I have trawled KZbin for videos and recordings of appropriate sounding engines, and have created a small library of sounds. I've manipulated and combined various sound clips to try to create something vaguely realistic - albeit very time consuming, perhaps doubling the time taken to produce a 15 minute video. Barry

@barryluck1625 thanks, well worth your effort from the viewers' point of view.

Great to see how the railway was operated

As a signalman on the Bluebell Railway, I have tried to replicate as best I can, the operation of a signal box. At exhibitions, the railway is operated from the back, but the signalman is at the front so that spectators can see the lever frame and the bells in action. It prompts a lot of questions and discussion, which hopefully makes the layout more interesting to watch.

used your rolling stock from Pulborough ...?
@barryluck16254 күн бұрын
Yes, the stock has been built over the past 45 years, and used on West Chiltington, Pulborough, Brighton Road, Plumpton Green, and now Ouse Wharf.

The coal bunker look quite large on that Terrier, were they're that big then?
@barryluck16253 жыл бұрын
Hello Edward - are you perhaps confusing the E1 'Strasbourg' (at about 4 minutes) with the Terrier 'Boxhill' (after modification to a 2-4-0) at about 15 minutes? The E1 has a coal capacity of 30cwt compared with the Terrier's 1 ton

@@barryluck1625 You're right! I somehow mistook it for the A1x that have a bigger coal bunker, thank you for the clarification, looking at the other photos of the E1, they do look similar but still very different. I somehow look at E1 and thought it's the NER one.

You've asked me if I can change the auto captions to closed captions but I'm sorry to say I have no idea what you mean. There is no spoken word on any of the videos - all have written captions. I have tried adding steam sounds to v6, but apart from that, the only sounds are of the block bells ringing.

No problem - I wondered why the comment appeared in an email, but I couldn't find on my youtube channel!

Absorbing. A lovely model railway authentically operated. Everything I aspire to in my modelling. If I may? One teensy wheeny criticism. The telephone bell doesn’t sound like a turn of the century telephone at all. But dismiss it as the whining of an idiot. 🤐

Thank you for your comments, and you are quite right about the telephone ring. I added it at the last minute to open the video, and didn't even think about the sound, apart from making sure it was a bell not a warble!
