Yeah thats not bad at all. Your issue maybe with the headphone amp. The receiver unit you have isnt junk for headphones but you may want to research the specs to see if it can handle certain power hungry headphones. These DAC...they basically for people who use their headphones on their PC at home for music. The headphone amp and Sound card built into their PC or Laptop are always poor in quality. Thats who mainly buys these. Pc->DAC AMP->Headphones. Its for headphone people and some gamers. Especially City people in small apts. or work office mini headphone stereos.

@@KenzoObara1 It depends on the features you are looking for. The rt81 is a no frills, fully manual turntable, whereas the Sony lx310bt is fully automatic and has Bluetooth. The cartridges on both are very similar in sound quality. The cartridge on the Fluance may be a slight upgrade from the Sony, but honestly, you have to compare them side by side to notice a difference. The Fluance does give you a little more upgradability, mainly by letting you upgrade the cartridge to a better one down the line. But for casual listening, the AT3600L included on the Sony is plenty good enough for most listeners.

I used this amplifier for almost two years, with Dali Spektor 2 and a Yamaha subwoofer with good results. Then I got a bit tired and wanted to get to know the world of valves by taking a Douk Audio ST 01 Pro. Well in the end I put the Aiyima back because the Douk had a dark sound in the highs and a bad management of the bass so much so that it turned off the sub which became unbearable to listen to. I also tried changing the valves but without result. Then I moved the Douk Audio to the PC desk and here, connected to the LONPOO LP42 it seems to have come back to life (mysteries of HIFI). In the end I re-evaluated the D03 which, perhaps also because I changed the cables (very important!), is really pleasant to listen to and drives my sub very well (bass ok trebles a little less). ps now I bought a Loxjie A40 to test it....

And I have a problem, when I connect it from my speaker to the DAC (using a P2 to 2x RCA cable) and connect a KZ-ZS10 PRO X headset together, it causes noise all the time, only when I disconnect one of the two, that the noise stops. I think the key with this sub is to manage expectations. If you expect to get over 90db distortion free with a sub this size at this price on 60 watts RMS, I’d say your expectations aren’t reasonable. i’d be willing to bet there are a great deal of music lovers out there that aren’t even familiar with a decibel meter, and would be surprised at how loud 85 db is. If this sub can play up to even 85 db distortion free, that’s plenty loud for dare I say most people.

Nice review, thanks. I have two corrections about the RSL, though. 1. That's not a crossover, it's a selectable high-pass filter for the speakers. There is no low-pass filter, so the entire frequency range, not just the bass, is sent to the pre-out jack. 2. The pre-out IS variable. I've got my sub connected to it and its volume changes along with the speakers. For me, the RSL a perfect little desktop amp. I've got it connected to a FiiO K5 Pro ESS, an old B&W subwoofer, and a pair of RSL CG3M speakers. This is where the high-pass filter really shines, by the way. More of these little Class D amps should have them.
