So, I’ve commented a bunch on your videos. My parents are from Nottingham park. Which is located at 75th n Harlem. In order to get to the neighborhood, you have to pass the cemetery. I’ve always been so enamored with these stories. Back in the 90’s, my cousins and I would cruise by, late weekend nights to try to see her!!! Never did tho…

Okay I looked this up because growing up in South America my family told the tale of resurrection Mary as if it had happened to one of our uncles who was a cabby. Now I'm realizing someone probably pulled it from unsolved mysteries. In a twist of fate I actually recently moved to Chicago and I want to consume all the tales of Mary, might even take myself on a trip to said cemetery to say hi.
@StrangeandSinister16 ай бұрын
It's one of the more well known ghost stories in Chicago.
@marykuranda72544 ай бұрын
Yes, I have seen a ghost at our house in Logan Square, Chicago when I was 18 years old. I was at our dining room table in the dining room studying for my class and was the only one at home that afternoon. The dining room led to a hallway to the kitchen, 2 bedrooms, and a closed stairway going to the basement. While looking up from my book 📖 I saw a 3-ft. opaque figure with eyes looking at me. It stood near the door that led to the basement. The outline of it was not well-defined. I looked away from the vision for a moment. Returning to check it again this time it had a slight smile on its face as if to say “Don’t fear me”. The 3rd time I looked the “Casper-like” figure was gone. This occurred in the late 1960s. I didn’t ever do drugs or barely took an aspirin for a headache. 😮 The experience was suppressed from my mind until my 30s when I recalled the event. They say your mind does that sometimes when dealing with a shock. One of my sisters later told me that she always felt that house was haunted. I think she was right. 😳
@StrangeandSinister14 ай бұрын
Cool story. Did you ever look into the history of the house? It was probably a former resident.
@marykuranda72544 ай бұрын
@@StrangeandSinister1 No, I did not. How could this Casper-like specter be a former living person? I know the house’s foundation had 1917 or 1918 stamped into the floor. So it was a very old house. It was the house I grew up in and lived for 22 years, but I never thought to do research on it. Every once in a while I would “visit” the old neighborhood to drive past the house. So many good, and strange, memories in that place.

This whole resurrection merry story is shrouded in mystery as to actually how she died. The story always seems to change. Have read books written in the 70s that she had a big fight with her jealous boyfriend in the ballroom and barged out of the ballroom into the winter Snowy night and was ran over by a car that lost control and ran her over and left seen of the accident and was never found and left her body on the road. also the timing of her death is also a mystery. Some say it was in the 1920s others say 1932. Also the Archer road huntings seems to have peaked in the 1960s and 1970s. Also as to who she really was is also big mystery. Some say it was the girl in the ballroom and others say it had nothing to do with the ballroom girl. They say it was someone who had a car accident somewhere else. To this day it's a mystery as to who she really was. Thank you for the story 👌👍

I recently found your channel and I've been enjoying your videos, I was born and raised on the Southside of Chicago (Midway Airport area) I am now in my early sixties which means I grew up in the late 70s and into the 80s. I did the late night cruising with a few friends and I am going to leave a comment on your video about Bachelor's Grove cemetery since I had a few experiences there during the 1980s. But with regards to the Resurrection Cemetery and the infamous Mary, you can take from this what you want but it is the absolute truth and I have never drank or did any type of drugs, the point is, I know what I saw and I wasn't impaired in any way. I had a friend who lived with his family in a house they were renting and that home was literally right down the street from Resurrection cemetery, well it was within four minutes past the cemetery but it was off of Robert's Road which is the opposite side of the main gate that leads into Resurrection cemetery which is Archer Ave. It was very late, after two AM and it was near the start of Autumn or Fall season, the night's were just starting to get chilly and this night in particular had perfect weather. I had left my friends house and had just started to make the drive to my house, I was on Robert's Road, so the cemetery was to my left. My car was the only car on the road and aside from some widely spaced street lights, there was no real light to speak of in and around the area. I had my window down which was common for me at the time and I just happened to look towards the cemetery and I clearly saw what looked like a large white light and it appeared to be floating slowly and right across the graves in the cemetery. I would say it was similar to a large candle because the light would occasionally flicker, I wasn't driving fast to begin with but I even slowed down so that I could take in what I was seeing and sure enough, it was indeed a white light and it was about four feet off the ground and it was suspended in mid air and it was moving in a northerly direction. There was no one around it and I was never able to make sense of what that really was but I know what I saw and it really was a good sized white light that would flicker on occasion and it was floating above the ground at around four feet from ground level.

In 1975, it was either Christmas night or Christmas Eve night, which I’m leaning towards because most of the businesses were still open. My uncle on the Summit side of Harlem Ave. crossing Archer Ave. to the north side of the street when he first spotted her she was crossing Harlem ave along the south side of Archer ave. As he again crossed the street across Harlem on the north side of Archer ave. He noticed that she was wearing a white dress and possibly had something on her arms like a shawl or a jacket he couldn’t tell and as she was crossing the street she was dancing and twirling down the street and continued east on the southside of Archer ave. He watched her as he walked to Neva, where he was going to turn to his left to head to his house. And he had last spotted her she was walking past New England drug store, which was at the corner of Archer and Newland Street. He then turned onto Neva. He didn’t watch any further because at the time he had no idea who he was looking at other that an unusual woman who was out of place was dancing and twirling down the road. It wasn’t until later that he realized who it was. He wasn’t the only person to see her that night she was spotted further down Archer by Summit police officers, who followed her over to Harlem, but they turned right onto Harlem just before she was crossing to the Chicago side of the street right before my uncle spotted her. She had passed the Summit police station further down Archer and the police officers that followed her were leaving the station when they saw her. Then two boys were leaving the New England drug store and they spotted her. That was where my uncle lost track of her. He found out all this a year later when he read an article about the sighting. That’s the story.

I travel out to the Chicagoland area often for work, and a couple of years ago my wife and I went out at night driving on Archer Avenue to see if we could spot anything, but to no avail. However, the next day we explored the Resurrection Mausoleum, and aside from being absolutely breathtaking, was also very strange and from some light research I found that it is apparently very haunted. I would love to see a video on the Mausoleum at some point in the future. Thanks again and I look forward to your next video!

Back in 2009, my friends and I took a trip to Archer Avenue late at night. This was one of three times we went. On this particular night, however, we went down Archer Avenue, and we were coming up to the Willowbrook Ballroom. I took a look out my window from the car and saw what appeared to be, a woman walking on the road in a white gown. I pointed it out immediately, and everyone in the car got a look at her. The only way I can describe her was that the lower half of her body was almost translucent. The woman was almost "floating" rather than walking. We all knew what we saw, and we firmly believed we saw the infamous Resurrection Mary. We turned the car around and went back only to not find the woman again.
