Husband is needing to stay short term in Florida for about a month. It could turn into two or three months. Anybody have some suggestions. I was thinking if he got the brilliant card after about two weeks he could start cashing in night since he will be getting so many more points every night. Also, I have heard with some hotels you can wave room service and get extra points each night.

Good plan. I got the CSR earlier this year. Great travel card since the points are worth 1.5. Then my wife got the chase freedom unlimited, and made me an authorized user. So all the points from that card can be transferred to my ultimate rewards account which is worth more.

I’m considering upgrading my CSP to the CSR, especially since my home airport is opening a Chase lounge in early 2025. However, I won’t be eligible for the signup bonus for another two years. Would you still recommend upgrading without the signup bonus?

From my understanding if you have spent $75,000 in a calendar year with your Gold AMEX and then upgrade to the Platinum AMEX you can get credit for that $75,000 in spend toward platinum. Meaning you would immediately get the free 2 guest access to lounges without having to spend another $75,000. Can anyone verify this?

I currently hold the CSP along with both the Venture X and the AMEX Gold. With these 3 I really see no reason to get the CSR as the Gold covers all food categories, the Venture X offers the lounge access and provides a catch all card, while the CSP still gives you a .25 redemption bump along with 3x on streaming....I can't justify the CSR's annual fee in this type of setup.

If you do not fly through airports with Capital One lounges (which are amazing), then Priority Pass access is useless in the United States. 80% of the time, they say Priority Pass members are not allowed in. Most of the time, they say it is too busy, and they are not allowing Priority Pass members in, and on one occasion, they said the "system was down for Priority Pass members." It worked well outside of the US, but not in the US.

Great breakdown but just a small correction. With the Explorer card, you can use one of the passes for a guest. We’ve done it multiple times.

I have the reserve card and have been proactive about getting the Resy and Delta Stays credits. That brings the “cost” down to $220ish per year. And I think that is worth getting the lounge access and flight upgrades (almost always get bumped to comfort).

IMO the Bonvoy program is the worst hotel program in terms of value. Points are harder to earn, FNCs are limiting, resort fees, and the statuses are kinda meh. The biggest benefit is just the global footprint. The points feel like the hotel version of Delta Sky Pesos.

Also, I just want to point out the Boundless SUB of three free nights (valued at 150k points) is maxed out at 50k points per night. Can you not use those free nights at a property that goes for more than 50k points per night?

My sign-up bonus was 75k points, hers was the three Free Night Certificates @ 50k points each. The plan is to product change both of them into Ritz-Carltons on the cards' anniversary dates. Last Christmas I used my Ritz-Carlton card in Maui at the Ritz-Carlton with the 85K cert. Cash price was $1,976. In January I will product change my Boundless for a second R-C card. The R-C gives unlimited authorized users and unlimited guests at Chase Sapphire and Priority Pass lounges. With the $300 incidental fee coverage, my net cost is $150.

I stayed at Marriott's for a while before I got into the credit card game, but have stayed at Hyatt's more recently since they are a great Chase partner.I did get this card with the 125k bonus because I can get more stays out of it than a 5 free night reward offer since I don't really care about status or staying at a 5 star hotel. I guess the big plus with 3 aspire cards is that you can book an amazing 3night vacation for total $1650 every year. Plus using the credits would bring that down.

I just got an offer in the mail to upgrade from the Gold to the Platinum for 125,000 MR points after spending $6,000 in the first 6 months. I have been considering cancelling the Gold due to the coupon book fatigue. I would have to switch dining to the CSP (3x) and groceries to either the Citi Strata Premier (3x) or the Chase Freedom Unlimited (1.5x).

Does anyone know if I can access the AMEX Centurion Lounges if I'm traveling in Delta's Basic Economy paid with my AMEX Business Reserve card? Nowhere does it indicate a Basic Economy travel cannot use the Centurion Lounge. It does make clear Basic Economy travelers have no access to Delta SkyClub.
