The Chinese have the J-20 and the J-35, both of which are fairly new and which fulfill certain roles. Maybe it's easy to think about what the Chinese currently don't have in order to find out what roles these two new airplanes are meant for.

You can literally draw a straight line from the engine inlet, to the outlet thats not good for stealth, the radar will find the fans also nothing to slow down the air before it reaches the turbines for supersonic speed, this is why s ducts are used. The wingtips are nothing new, the YF-23 had this style of wingtip, you can google this.. Also this has visual actuators (bumps) near all of the control surfaces, so does the other one they released. Extremely simplified, a study in IIRC 2019, found that RF physical production economy was roughly 80% of USAs, while China's was OVER 10 times the size of USAs. And while research wasn't quite along the same lines, RF was far better compared to population than USA, while China was not, but still overall had far more capability in total.

Why can China afford it but the US can't? It is because China is actually the largest economy in the world in terms of PPP. Also, China's military production is purpose-driven while the US is profit driven.
