Hi the fuel tank is not normally soldered like that from new so I would say that it has had its fair share of leaks over the years. The piezoelectric ignighter that you purchased would be better replaced with the continuous AA battery type also from a bbq, but the pulse jet even when new were notoriously hard to start.

Hi. For starting you need continous airflow. Use a little leaf-blower.
@FlatheadTerry8 күн бұрын
@foxwhiskey Thanks bud!
@brettbuck73622 күн бұрын
You do not need continuous airflow, it is intended to be started by a bike pump, and I started ours dozens of times that way. Of course, this is not for RC, it would turn any 1946-1970 RC system to dust in second from vibration.
@foxwhiskey2 күн бұрын
@@brettbuck7362 hi. A continuous airflow til I runs of course. My pulsejet is a bit bigger. Diameter 150 mm. So the flutter valves need more starting-air. 👍
@brettbuck73622 күн бұрын
@@foxwhiskey 150 "mm" is 5.9" in conventional units and may require other methods. But a Mini'Jet certainly does not. It takes nearly nothing to open the valve, the trick is to make sure the air goes across the metering head. The Dyna-jet uses a welded on-spigot carefully tweaked to maximize the suction, the Mini-Jet as shown has it cast in. Competition guys remove the Dyna-Jet air jet and use an air tank and a probe, not to improve starting, but to remove restrictions in the inlet so it flows better. But a stock Mini-Jet or Dyna-Jet starts just fine with a tire pump and intermittent air. All it takes is one cycle of the right mixture and off it goes. The starting issue in the video are because he doesn't have continuous spark/Model T Buzzer Coil. as noted by many other commenters.

I'll be willing to bet that the radio needs new caps and probably half of the resistors, a new vibrator and probably the speaker replaced to be put back into good working condition. I restore old car radios as a sideline and it is rare that more than one tube is bad, but it is guaranteed that the caps, speaker and vibrator are bad. Fortunately all of those parts are readily available. What I do is tap into the radio's existing circuit to wire in a direct connection from a phone, satellite radio etc into the radio's audio system to use the original radio as the amplifier.
@FlatheadTerry8 күн бұрын
You are correct. I did not go into all the issues a vintage radio can have. It would take a whole separate video to go over all the issues and parts that need to be replaced. I appreciate the information and will keep it in mind for future videos.

What an amazing locomotive. All those carriages are deadweight. Not one is a driver. So that locomotive has to pull every one on its own. Yup, the entire train, from a standing start, unaided. The torque required and the traction to transmit that torque with that unbelievably enormous dead weight. No superlative can do justice to that single locomotive.

You’re a neat guy and certainly know what you’re doing! Keep it up. Can I use an energizer 6v battery I can get at Walmart or is that going to be too weak?

@communistpootisbirb Correct, the Energizer will not have the current capacity (measured in "Amp Hours) to energize the coils. In this video, the small battery has an 18 Amp Hour (Ah) capacity which is not enough. You'll need a battery with at least a 50 AH rating. How this helps. Flathead
