Great to see one of these iconic Buffalo Creek Flour boxcars being preserved. Whenever I'd ride a rail excursion train back in the 1960s and '70s, I'd always be on the lookout for a BCK car. Usually about every yard we'd pass through in the MD/PA area would have at least one on a yard track in transit. When HO models of the cars became available I got one right away.

These are fairly familiar to me, though I never rode on them. Instead, I'm a crew member at the Illinois Railway Museum, and we've got three DL&W Boonton commuter coaches that we use in regular service on our locomotive-hauled trains.

Love the double headed GG1s on the mixed goods train. That's how the NEC should be now and the parallel electrified routes abandoned when Amtrak raised it's electricity prices to CSX.
@EDOTrainsАй бұрын
You are the second person to mention this being the root cause of the lack of freight trains on the NEC. Although by this point, there really aren't slots available anyways and maybe getting those slots was the logic behind jacking up the electricity costs to get the freights off of there. Which I do understand I guess. Thank you for watching, please consider subscribing if you've not already!

I hope electrification continues. Was the railway converted to 12 or 25kv ac from 3kv dc?

Before the Conrail Amtrak pissing contest over Amtrak's electricity prices. Imagine two govt companies fighting about prices. Conrail went exclusively diesel for freights and largely rerouted off the NEC.

I had no clue it was something like this that spelled the end of E's and G's in freight Service! I always figured it was just something efficiency related since theoretically run through trains could be coming from almost anywhere... Thank you for this! And thank you for watching

Thank you thank you, yeah that was my favorite part of this video as well! If you haven't subscribed yet, please consider doing so; we have a rough and brief video of that BM SW that's being preserved up now on our page. 1127 I believe is the number. That and a ton more Guilford era action on Conrail's Southern Tier and elsewhere to be posted still. Thanks for watching!

The current Arrow II/III cars replaced the MUs, but to this day, they’re limited to the Gladstone Branch line which runs from Hoboken Terminal to Gladstone, if I’m not mistaken.

How was the audio for these videos recorded?
@EDOTrainsАй бұрын
I'm not a technician enough to answer this question except to say that there is a very obvious sound strip on these films that allows even a novice such as myself to differentiate between silent and sound films. I have to see if I can find a picture of Mr Crosby with his camera to check out if the mic was attached or you stood separate with it or how that worked.
