I've got the Ioniq hEV and it works ok on the motorway, and even when in traffic -- but it shouldn't be trusted in all conditions. Approaching lights, or in changeable conditions, I just turn it off.

Excellent guidance (and a very capable assistant!) -- I have an Ioniq HEV and have found the manual impossible to follow and have therefore been picking things up by both experience and videos like yours. Thank you.

It's very important that such alternative transport advances and that local infrastructure is improved to help enable this. I'm very sad about the setbacks for this and some other hybrid vehicles. A lot of industry suffered badly during the pandemic. Indeed, Britain has had a triple whammy now with Brexit, pandemic and war/sanctions consequences. The EU is faring badly too, especially Germany due to Nordstream. I believe that all three issues were mismanaged by the respective governments.

Given that most (all?) battery warranties work on a certain percentage remaining (often 80%) at a certain number of years, this should be available to owners/buyers. How else can you know if you have a claim?

If you don’t push the limits from time to time your not doing the ioniq justice. You have to learn the limits of the car. I’ve rolled into a charger at 0% on the turtle.i don’t make a habit of doing that and only have done it once. Also I don’t think you should drive too slowly in the ioniq, 110kmh is perfect.

I live in Stockport (you went under the viaduct and past the Pyramid), so it was nice to be able to register it with somewhere I know! I have an Ioniq HEV, and love it, but did think about the EV. I'm thinking about a Kona EV next.

It’s early days in EV development, particularly in battery technology. Secondhand prices are ridiculously low which reflect the difficulty in selling used EVs to a ‘battery nervous’ public. With the exception of the Leaf with its simpler battery management, degradation of EV batteries has proved to be less of a worry than many thought it would be. That being said there’s always the ‘roll of the dice’ failure and the price of a new battery is not insignificant. It would be interesting to make a comparison with an ICE vehicle to whether a high voltage battery failure is as rare as an engine failure. The public home in on battery issues because their point of reference is low cost consumer grade products. Very few people worry about potential ICE engine failures or degradation when buying a secondhand vehicle because it’s more easily accepted in spite of its occurrence and often prohibitively costly replacement. The bigger issue is going to be obsolescence as newer EVs get better technology all round because they’re at the beginning of the development curve - a bit like buying a used 2007 iPhone in 2009. It takes a while for new tech to settle down and gain the trust of the suspicious public!

Helpful. The one time I've used the cruise control, it seemed to use up my charge a lot quicker, providing me with my first 'turtle' moment and associated anxiety.

I think the first patent in this video discusses the bonnet scoop. I can only presume that you'd have a square front end for pure ('muscular'?) stylistic reasons and this mitigates the detracting aerodynamic penalties? kzbin.info/www/bejne/e3vOmpeHi5yUY6c

Hi. It's been a long time since I last visited your channel, but I'm here to thank you and to let you know that your Ioniq videos inspired us to buy an EV for our next car. We did that; bought a Zoe, which turned out to be more efficient than Renault claimed it would be, and have enjoyed driving it for the past 40+ months. We'll never go back to a fossil-fuelled car, and certainly wouldn't even think about buying a hybrid, no matter how much they're being pushed at people right now. So, a sincere 'Thank-you'' for the work you have done to promote more efficient, and less polluting, forms of transport. 🙂👍

i walk round that area a lot, but mainly near the reservoirs and Burnley Way, but took a detour today and came across Sheddon Clough there was a information board located, a quick scan of the board opened my eyes so to speak, i always assumed that the piles of stones were the excavations from the digging of the Hurstwood and Mainly Cants Clough, i visit the area from the carpark at Hurstwood, Again very informative video

I honestly think how fast EVs can accelerate is a bad thing. It's a waste of power, but my main problem, most people can't handle it. The Nissan Leaf can do 0-60 in under 8 seconds, and that's the base model. No wonder some EVs have such High insurance.

Interesting. I'm about to take delivery of a used 2020 Ioniq Electric and was scared and relieved in very short succession that the 12v battery could be run down by sitting idle for such a short time but the car has a way to compensate for it. I'm plan to limit the max charge to 80% or 90% as is recommended, so I would hope the 12v battery would be recharged at something less than 100% EV battery charge. It does make me wonder now if you can "jump start" an EV 12v battery with the portable battery-powered jump starters on the market for ICEs. I keep one in our ICE car in case it's needed, and may consider buying another for the EV if it's an equal or greater concern/

I'll be honest, I got a tear in my eye as you went under Stockport Viaduct. My old home town. I have a 30kwh LEAF which is almost perfect for 95% of my driving. The only 2 niggles I have is on my frequent Airport runs (I live 135km from Bordeaux Airport and my kids visit us in SW France). (niggle 1) The range is frustratingly not enough (niggle 2) Chademo charging is quite difficult to find. I think a used 38kwh Ioniq addresses those 2 niggles. (1) The range would get me there and back (2) CCS charging makes it less stressful to go on longer trips. Having said that, Tesla Model 3s are hitting the used market in decent numbers now. The Standard Plus with LFP battery is very tempting. It means a 100% battery can be available on the drive every morning. What's not to love about that?
