I think they shot themselves in the foot by directing the actor to be so still. It’s like the original actress was emphatic and emoting in the shots they rotoscoped, but then they tracked her onto a stationary body double and it creates dissonance. If the double had moved around more, they could hide some of the flaws in the motion.

Now they need to make one called The Cat where he merges with the cat and just naps in a sun beam all day.

My interpretation of the Kubrick cuts is that some of the shots show us not Tony, but Tony's ghost following himself during the last day of his life. There are two moments in the show to support this theory (if we assume that he was indeed shot by the Members Only guy in that restaurant): 1. The first shot of Made in America is intentionally filmed as if Tony is lying dead in a coffin before he wakes up and gets up from the bed. I interpret that as his ghost leaving his body during/after his funeral. 2. In an earlier episode where Chris gets shot, after waking up from his coma he says that his father is in hell where at the end of every day he gets whacked the exact way he got whacked in real life. And it's painful. So maybe Tony was punished in the same way? I think it makes total sense considering that paranormal stuff is real in the universe of the Sopranos, and in the Many Saints of Newark we get a straight up confirmation of the existence of hell.

Oh my God the House Arrest garbage is horrible. INFINITELY worse than the Cold Cuts edit. I don't think it's even close..ew....kinda creepy, if you ask me :))

I was just about to ask about that especially I watched that Wolfman movie that the Jeff Goldblum’s vibes and I was also thinking about Village of the Damned as I get confused with that and the invasion of the body snatchers and also the Puppet Master that Donald Sutherland was in is a book.
@toaderdaniel67904 күн бұрын
The editing in Cold Cuts is very interesting. It fits the vibe of the show, which gets freaky and otherworldly sometimes anyway. It might be objectively wrong, but art is art. I think it works. The only weird part of it might be the wipe effect at the end. That's unnecesarry.
@couchbumkino54234 күн бұрын
I wouldn’t say objectively wrong (because it’s art and all that) but it certainly is weird

There's no need for this ridiculous dive into this scene like there's some secret deeper meaning to it. You didn't think you were having a medical emergency. You didn't think there was legitimately a support group. This is yet another poor attempt for the show to try to rip off Scorcese and they failed miserably. Look at the entire first season. Everything is stolen from Scorcese.

When the Ricardo Montalban Chrysler commercial was on TV, it was beyond huge-what made it so famous was the "fine, Corinthian leather." Here in the South, it's still a phrase used when you want to jokingly play up the quality of something. It's hard to appreciate if you didn't witness it first hand, but from an age where most people only had three or four TV channels to watch, commercials played a bigger role in American culture. Another great example is the common catch phrase "Sorry, Charlie" that came from a Star Kist tuna commercial.

@couchbumkino5423 yeah, after I thought of the sequel to the 80s one, I remembered the 50s one had sequels too. I've seen the Eric Stoltz sequel, it's an odd one for sure. I have the whole blu ray box set and need to see the Vincent Price sequels as well. Maybe there's something in them from the original short story or something that expands upon it.

The finale of season 2 has a much better send off for Livia, even if it’s unintentional. The last interaction she has with Tony, she’s laughing at him, making him feel small and highlighting her true nature. Their relationship is fully encapsulated in that moment and it hits harder if they don’t ever interact again.
