@9:47. This is a CLASSIC case of misrepresentation and FRAUD. The results CLEARLY state he was measured with a vertical of 36 inches. Considering Andrew Wiggins has the highest ever measurement in an NBA combine of 42 inches, the claim that Jordan had a 48 inch vertical is precisely that: NONSENSE. But, rather than report the actual results of the scientific test, you choose to go on this long rigmarole designed to confuse the audience and present LIES.

@7:57: "Jordan was ABLE to touch his head on the rim", even as video evidence that SHOWED he couldn't. We done with this BULLSHIT.

Jordan was a pioneer when it came to jumping he was the first to make the pan ultimate leap famous. That is he would plant his back foot in front of his front door and bend down low to get maximum explosiveness off the floor. Nobody was jumping like that in the NBA before him. Now everybody does. Jordan would use this jumping style for dunks and layups.

MJ is 1000% the goat, I always felt like the make vert of 48 inches was a little much, felt like it was closer to 45/46 but regardless its still probably the highest vertical in NBA history. Also I love how you break it down based on facts and use sports science as well.

Great video. MJ abilities add up: 1. Palm the ball 2. Jump off one or both legs 3. Retain balance mid air 4. And most importantly travel distance like a long jump athlete

MJs highest jumps and lebrons highest jumps have their heads reaching about the same spot. Lebron has a 44 inch vertical and is 3 inches taller than MJ. Makes complete sense that MJ would have a 48 inch vertical. Jumping with a ball also lowers your vertical by a few inches.

It's not just how high Michael jumped. HOW he jumped was artistically mesmerizing, and he was of such capability long before athletic training ever focused so intricately on boosting the vertical jump. Another rarely mentioned advantage Michael made use of was the effectiveness of his leap regardless of whether he left the ground on one foot or both.

All I'm getting out of this video is this man saying when you're at a running Pace meaning you know you're not doing them straight up in the air junk that the running you know jumping like you're jumping for distance takes away from your junk but Jordan's elbow is still in the rim so imagine how high he would have got if he would have. Did a Max vertical jump instead of a jump like a long jumper? Will say imagine if he'd have just went straight up in the air instead of jumping for distance. Jesus where actually in around where we're saying that this man could have probably grabbed the top of the backboard with both hands. If he tried his hardest that is crazy and his trainer did go on record to say and I quote unrecorded. I think Jordan jumps about 58 in 56 to 58 in that is insane. That's when he's really trying to jump his Max that is unheard of like Spike. Lee said in the commercial the shoe commercial NO NO NO NO NO NO. NO NO NOBODY NOBODY

What's messed up about that is I am 6'3 and I did that same thing in Edwardsville at the SIU campus and I wasn't even a student there. I just went there because guys used to go and play ball there but I'm not going to lie. I hit the back of my head. Jordan just hit the back of his neck. Yeah so that mean that man was really up there. He look like he hit his neck right where it starts to go across his shoulder blades. He was really up there. I just barely hit like the back of my head right at the you know like right beneath the top of my head. You know just like right there. He look like he hit his neck right at the shoulder blades. Man that's insane. I wish I had someone in my car. The way he had someone in his car I was doing that because of Michael Jordan. I used to watch him used to want to be him and I was 6'3 and I wasn't nothing but 16 and 1/2 years old. I had just graduated high school

His shoulders hit the backboard not just his head. That has to be at least 40 inches.

The best example of Jordan's jumping ability is a play against the Nets that's called "the layup". He takes off from the side of the free throw line. Double clutches maneuvering between two defenders from a dunk attempt to finish with a reverse layup on the other side of the rim.

I watched the rest of your video and you are right.100 percent Jordan could get his head above the rim sometimes when he ducked his head to avoid the rim it took away his momentum to jump as high as he could.Also it was said in college they clocked him running a 4.3 in 40 yard dash.
@JimJones-fr4lu
@JimJones-fr4lu 6 ай бұрын
Also on that college block his momentum was taking him to the backboard so he wasn't just jumping as high as he could he jumped high to block the shot at the same time he was trying to duck his head to not hit the backboard that being said he wasn't trying to jump as high as he possibly could but he did still jump high and get an incredible block knowing he needed to avoid hitting his head on backboard.

This video is so funny.You can't take basketball plays and say he jumped this high one time try to measure it and say well he has 36 inch vertical.Are you serious?That one jump in college you can't say this is the highest he can jump and you measure his vertical from a video.If you want to do that look at a couple ally oops dunks early in his NBA career when is head was at rim then sometimes above the rim.Come on now.Look at the poster when he has his legs up behind him dunking from the free throw line his head is above the rim like his eyes level to rim.Not just poster.Watching that dunk in slow motion.So no the reason he got the name Air Jordan was because he had jumping ability and hangtime the other players didn't.When your trying to take certain plays from videos then say from that play this is is vertical and from that play thats his highest he can jump Its a little stupid.Good thing is it's funny and doesn't matter.

Lebron is a freak of Nature. Shaq was a freak of nature. Wembe is a freak of nature. MJ wasn't. There are a few but not a lot in NBA history who were simply so physically gifted that their bodies stood out against other NBA bodies.

NBA players always give their running max vertical as their vertical leap. A “true vertical” is standing with no steps. I worked [senior year Independent Study] in the *Coach K NIKE Human Performance Lab at Duke Sports Medicine* in the mid/late 1990s where I did similar research to what is shown at 9:16. The NFL combine does a true vertical and there are usually 3-5 guys each year that jump over 40 inches, often times it is a DB, WR or Linebacker. ***The most explosive NFL players are more bouncy and twitchy than even the best leapers in the NBA.***

MJ had a poster when I was young that boasted him to have a 42-inch vertical, so when people claim he allegedly gained 6 more inches is outrageous because this information about a 48-inch vertical would have surely made that poster! It would only add to the hype, so no reason to leave it out.

Grover is lying he didn’t increase vertical from 88/89 to 93 and MMJ was closer to 42” off the ground when he hit his head on backboard. Rim is 120” the crown of mj head is 78’ off the ground…that’s 42”

Lots of great jumpers in his era but MJ stood out for his footwork, hang time, and ability to jump off 1 or 2 feet. Mike had game for days and people really didn’t focus on one aspect like vertical. If his head is at the rim then that’s 42 inches by my count. I thought he could jump higher in the 80s but had a more effective game overall in the 90s thanks to Phil and also a legit support crew.
