YOUR WRONG ... this was the kinda of music sung in the fifties and sixties. There is so many songs i could point too in this era. just because someone sounded good doesn't mean he was ahead of his time and to me thats a insult... we had great music back then... do your homework.

This is the original, but you’ve more than likely heard it if you’ve watched the movie Oceans 11 from 2002. Elvis’s vocals were used in a remix, used in Oceans 11 as well as in a commercial for soccer championship from back then. The commercial didn’t really get played here, but elsewhere around the world where soccer is THE sporting event. It made it to #1 in several countries. Here it made it to #50 I think. The remix is 🔥 as well.

No voice like Elvis--the velvet tone, the soul, the heart, his rhythm, his sense of humor, his physical beauty-he out shone everyone-God broke the mold when He made Elvis-he is like a beautiful sunset that points us to a wonderful and good Creator!

Elvis had a great sense of humour, just one of the reasons that he is greatly loved by his fans, showing his human side which sat right beside his musical genius ability. He had his demons, but he really was the most wonderful entertainer & man. As always, a great Reaction.

Elvis & Ann Margaret fell in love during this movie & they were together for some time after the movie. She didn’t want to give up her movie career which was substantial, & he wanted a wife who stayed at home. They remained close friends & he sent her red roses every time she had a show opening, right up until his death. She was one of the first people to be contacted when Elvis died, & she got on the first plane to Memphis.

Jane H commenting …. I love watching Elvis’ rehearsals. He loved to clown around, & it must have given such a relaxed atmosphere to the rehearsals, yet when it was time to focus, Elvis focused. His voice was just so amazing that his voice is just as good in rehearsals as it is on stage. Elvis did all of his own musical arrangements, even when he had an orchestra on stage with him. He was quite a genius when it came to arranging the music & arranging the back up singers, & then putting it all together as he sang. That’s why you will often see him throwing a look towards back up singers, or cueing the guitarists or drummer to come in, or bringing it all to a close at exactly the right moment at the end of a song.

Jane H commenting ….. Ann Margaret was so beautiful & Elvis was incredibly handsome … & the two of them had so much chemistry between them. They fell in love & were seeing one another for some time after this movie had ended, but Elvis didn’t want a wife who had her own movie career, & Ann Margaret was already a star & didn’t want to give it up. But they remained very good friends right up until Elvis’ death, & I think it was Joe E who phoned her to tell her he had died, & she was on the next plane over to Memphis. I don’t think the two of them ever stopped loving one another & it’s a shame the two of them didn’t hook up again once he & Priscilla were divorced.

This was originally recorded by Simon & Garfunkel. They were in the audience when Elvis sang this at his Vegas concert, & apparently one of them turned to the other, when Elvis had finished, & said “Well how the hell are we going to top that?” You couldn’t get a bigger compliment than that. Elvis could take anything, make it his own, & it always came out better than the original.

Jane H commenting ….. Elvis was very athletic. He had a Black Belt to 8th degree in Karate, & I’ve read that he was still training every day in the early 70s. Tiger Man was released in 1968 & The Eye of the Tiger was released in 1982. Yes, it’s definitely hard to choose a favourite song sung by Elvis. He sang more than 700, & every one of those songs were great. So you have a long way to do yet, but your Elvis fans will stay close by. We love to see a new generation enjoying Elvis. He thought he might be forgotten, but he won’t be. Both my wife & I have been big Elvis fans for almost sixty years now. We always love your enthusiastic Reactions to Elvis.

“ ….. a warmer sun shining hope on everyone” . This song has beautiful lyrics & Elvis sang them with the strong conviction he held in his heart, that people need to come together as one people, not seeing the colour of a person’s skin, but seeing the actual person.

His tribute to Martin Luther King, after he was senselessly assassinated, which upset Elvis deeply. This was a televised performance before a live audience. Elvis was told by his manager Not to do this, as it would destroy his career, but Elvis went ahead & did it, because he felt strongly that there should be racial equality … & remember that Elvis was raised as one of four very poor white families in a poor black community, & his friends had been the black children living within that community. As a young performer in the 1950s, he had flouted the strict segregation rules & was seen as a threat to the establishment.

Jane H commenting … Oh this takes me back to when I was 16 & movies were romantic, & girls wore pretty dresses & men dressed elegantly. Now, when the guy & the girl meet, it’s all about ripping each other’s clothes off & leaping into bed, on their first date. I used to watch Elvis movies from the time I was around 13 & I could hardly wait for the next Elvis movie to come out, & there were always big queues to get in, & if you didn’t get there really early, it was sold out until the next performance. Although my parents had been married for a number of years, my father always held the car door open for my mother, & closed it when she was seated, & always walked ahead to open doors for her. They were married for 55 years & they passed within six months of one another, because my dad missed her so much when she was gone. Elvis was the highest paid actor in Hollywood, & got one million dollars for each movie, & he made 31. He wanted to do serious acting, but his manager & the film producers wanted him in romantic movies where he sang & danced, because they knew that was what would sell those movies. Apparently, Elvis got frustrated & bored, & as soon as eight years had passed & his contract was finally at an end, he did a comeback special which was televised & went back to what he loved doing most, his live concerts. Elvis was 6ft of handsomeness, whether acting or singing.

This song was written expressly for Elvis & he released it in 1958. It became his eleventh Number One song on the billboard, & was the third best song on the billboard throughout that same year of 1958. Elvis was always a perfectionist when it came to his music, but he always enjoyed fooling around a bit during studio rehearsals, but then would get down to business. He was always focused when he needed to be, & he sounded just as good in rehearsals as he did on his records, & no auto-tuning back then. After An American Trilogy (sung at his Aloha from Hawaii 1973 Live Concert), Don’t is my wife’s favourite Elvis song.

Jane H commenting ….. Sadly, Sam wanted to meet up with Elvis at a nearby concert, in the early 70s, I think it was. But Elvis had no idea he was coming, so when Sam arrived at the back door of the concert venue, while Elvis was rehearsing, I believe, the security guards at the back door would not let him in, & did not manage to get word to Elvis, or perhaps informed a bodyguard, but that message was not conveyed to Elvis, so the two of them never met with one another.

As far as I know, from things I’ve read, Elvis left with his family when he was 14, which is a difficult age to have to adjust to a whole new way of life. He was always considered as an outsider when they moved to Memphis & he was at High School. Even at that young age, Elvis had his own style of dressing & doing his hair. He grew his hair longer than the rest of the boys, & they even ganged up on him & were going to cut his hair shorter, but he was rescued by another boy, who was Red West, I believe. Red & Elvis then became friends, & later when Elvis was famous, Elvis remained friends with him & his cousin Sonny West, & eventually took both of them to be his bodyguards. There is a very touching story, told by Sonny West (now deceased), how Elvis had just lost his mother, who he absolutely doted on, & he was 22 & in a bad way with his grief over losing her. Then Red West lost his father the day after Elvis lost his mother, & both of the deceased were at the same funeral parlour. Elvis was with his mother, & then saw Red grieving for his father, & as lost in grief as Elvis was, he went in to see Red & he hugged him & told him if he needed anything, even just company, that he was there for him. Now Elvis was totally grief-stricken at the loss of his mother, but he still went to give Red comfort. That was the kind of man Elvis was. He had such a big heart & showed his caring & love for others wherever he went.

Jane H commenting ….. I think the reality hit home when he was back in Memphis, that his beloved mother was no longer there. As they had been very close, that must have been incredibly hard on him, still being a young man. He probably just needed to be on his own & have a good cry, but instead he was surrounded by people & had to do interviews. In Germany, he could have perhaps not had to face that she was gone forever, but once home again, that would probably have hit him like a sledgehammer. He is obviously very tired, having only got home hours before. Elvis was a shy person & never enjoyed being interviewed, from all that I have read, but he knew that was part of the job. He went on to make 31 movies over the next 8 years & was paid a million dollars for every movie, making him the highest paid actor in Hollywood. But he was very frustrated & bored, because he had wanted to be a serious actor, & they said he had the talent to do that, but the Colonel, his manager, said people wanted to see him dance & sing, & so that is what he was made to do. In 1968, when his movie contract was finally up, Elvis made a comeback into what he loved most, live performances.

Jane H commenting ….. Elvis was a very humble man & continued to be that way right up to his death. He always played down his accomplishments & he absolutely Adored his mother & had a good relationship with his father throughout his life. He had both of his parents, plus his grandmother, & various other cousins living with him at his home Graceland, & he fully supported all of them. When he lost his beloved mother when he was 22 & she was 46, he cried for two days & was absolutely inconsolable. He never did get over losing her, because he loved her so much & they had always been very close. She was both his biggest fan & his biggest critic. She kept him grounded. Elvis was a shy man & an introvert, off stage. But a totally different persona took over when he performed, & he was confident & an extrovert. But he was always nervous before his concerts. Before he shot to almost overnight fame, he had told his mother that he would buy her a pink Cadillac, & indeed that was one of the first things he did. When she died, he kept it & drove it, & it was never sold as far as I know. He also bought Lincolns & had at least two Stutz Blackhawks, plus a Rolls Royce Phantom V, as well as others, as his career as the highest paid Hollywood movie star progressed. He ended up with a collection of 200, but he had given just as many away, donating them to be auctioned for charity, or gifting them to family & friends & even total strangers.

Elvis was a Baritone, but he could go up into a Tenor range so easily, & he could get right down into the lowest Baritione range. He had such a vocal range, & had a very unique vibrato which was fast, very evenly spaced, & covered his vocal range. A voice analysist said she had never heard another singer with that vibrato & that it was virtually unique to Elvis. Over a billion people watched this live Aloha from Hawaii 1973 Live Concert, as it was the very first live concert to be beamed across the world via satellite. I watched it from New Zealand, & it was hard to imagine that Elvis was actually performing live on stage, halfway across the world, as I watched him. His voice just kept getting better as he got older, & right up to his last concert in 1977, just 8 weeks before he died. Thank you for your wonderful Reaction.
