I just got a flip oled and the visuals are terrible. The colors are washed out, the details are non existent. I have followed instructions to calibrate the HDR and nothing changes. This was such a waste of money. I had to return a previous asus becuase of a graphics card glitch. I almost kept it becuase the oled screen was incredible. I decided to "upgrade" to the flip and it was a waste of money and a terrible mistake. Be very careful and make sure you can return a unit that is disappointing.

This is a really good review.. It was done with an understanding of where Apple is as a trillion dollar company and where Qualcomm and Microsoft are. It can be difficult integrating different things.. And for this performance for a start.. This is super amazing and exciting.. Can't wait to see what happens over time.. Hopefully Microsoft doesn't nuke windows with their desperation and bring back the new/bad curse. Btw... Blender has an arm version..

I like the larger screen with 16x9 ratio. I don't like the color especially the color of the keys. I'm not in a hurry and I think I want to wait for Lunar Lake and whatever AMD had coming. I also like some older 32 bit Windows games and I haven't seen anyone review how they perform yet, but given how horribly they perform on Apple Silicon, I don't have much hope that Snapdragon will do better. I currently have a Samsung Galaxy Book Pro and it performs well ehough but since it's Intel it runs 32 bit games amazingly well. I get around 6 hours of battery out of it and the only reason I would consider ARM is if the battery life is truely a LOT better, but I don't trust battery life claims from manufacturers.

Honestly, I would skip the first generation of Qualcomm Snapdragon laptops and wait for Zen 5 Strix Point or Intel Lunar Lake. From what I've seen in benchmarks, you can get comparable performance on existing x86 chips (and the next generation will be even better) as well as battery life that is good enough for most people. Trust me, I would love to see ARM chips succeed in the laptop space since they are more efficient, but the software and driver compatibility remain huge hurdles.

Ultimately with these devices, the device-to-device variance is insane. Going through the geekbench scores they vary from the high 8k to high 14k. That’s some insane variance. The MacBooks don’t get that kind of variance. Maybe 1k total. Also m3 air 30k smashes the 20k of this processor in GPU workloads. It’s comparable in price and performance to the MacBook Air M3. Which is nice, don’t get me wrong, but the fluff and hype on these is insane. It’s a revolution for Windows, because they are finally getting laptops that are starting to be as useful as a Mac. I think if Qualcomm set the expectations accordingly these wouldn’t have as many open box returns at Best Buy already.

@RobertDunn3106 күн бұрын
This is exactly the reason why I am waiting for Zen 5 Strix Point. At some point, the battery life becomes "good enough" (8-10 hours is fine...it's not like you will be in some desert away from a power outlet for too long) and other things like performance and compatibility matter more.

GPU is lot slower than intel and AMD. 4. is far too expensive compared to Intel and AMD 5. limited ram options and no expandability. 6. has compatibility issues as non native take a significant performance hit. Gaming must not be the yardstick for comparision ... It appears apple has a true competitor here.... given the battery life and producitivity application performance..... apple needs to step it up or maybe do cost cuts in future when this platform gets more mature....
@jonathanmardukas59406 күн бұрын
Truthfully, I couldn't disagree more. If either company, Apple or Microsoft (and all Copilot+ manufacturers) wish to have the broadest appeal, gaming truly needs to be very high on the consideration measurement. The audience for wanting greater battery life always tends to be gamers who want to unplug. My personal experience has always been that a high performance gaming machine can literally do anything else well while the reverse is not true. AI at the moment is somewhat gimmicky but that won't be forever and any manufacturer + chip maker who can address the needs of both high performance gaming + AI with ultra efficiency via battery will have an unbeatable combination.
@neodidi4 күн бұрын
@@jonathanmardukas5940great point.. And yeah that's true. But a lot of buyers actually don't really think about high end gaming, except gamers.. And even now, gamers have a specific type of x86 laptops to get, nvidia actually had to differentiate their chips for creators and gamers.. So there's room for non gamers who barely have the time to game and just wants to be on windows. I bet there are people who switched to Apple just cause they couldn't find any windows alternative, now when devs support, they'd be happy.. I know I would be. I love Apple Macs, but for my work and region, it's not something that's easy to work with, I tried. Windows is just better.. And with these updates, it's super exciting.

Besides, Apple already shown that Arm has a space, so they just need more time to make it better. Besides, hold on.. Apple did same thing, and it's not like they don't have failed products, they do.. The iPad even after so many years is a niche product that has very little use case. Yet it costs same for a PC that offers everything it has and more. Vision Pro is more of a beta product than anything from Microsoft and Snapdragon, yet it's $3,500.. Are you really kidding me?

The concept of an affordable gaming 8 inch Android tablet is very appealing to me for playing games through emulators. I have an iPad Mini 5 now that I cam play PS1 and under systems on using an 8bitdo Bluetooth controller, but I would love to also play PS2, GameCube, 3DS and higher systems on too. I like retro handhelds like the ones from Anbernic and Retroid, but for me emulating games on a tablet + Bluetooth controller is the best portable emulation experience, especially in terms of having a large easy-to-see screen and full-sized sticks and buttons. This 2023 Lenovo Legion Y700 seems a bit old at this point. I hope Lenovo does a processor refresh soon.

Poor overall quality, poorly thought out design. For example - the camera that protrudes beyond the size of the laptop and has no protection when closed. The uneven surface below. Uncomfortable to hold. The very high rubber feet come off easily, they do not have a mechanical grip if they are still so high. I quickly lost one. The frequently used delete key is small and hidden on the top row. repeat end function on the keyboard. A CTL+C key and another CTRL+V key are missing, which would have been very useful. (evolution) Charging cable too short and too thick from the power supply to the laptop. The 220 power cord has an old model plug that disconnects very easily and produces sparks inside. The screen folds too easily in a certain position because there is not enough force to keep it up. You cannot purchase separately to quickly replace two batteries for situations when you are with a laptop in the field and you do not have electricity (on the old model I had two original batteries that I used and charged at home) The F keys are not illuminated and this slows down the work quite enough. I always have to count them. I would have preferred to look for those symbols on the F keys since I use them less often. The front camera is again of poor quality compared to the price of the laptop. In videoconferences, my image is the weakest compared to that of my colleagues... and there are more...

I never ONCE had an issue with it, no glitches, no blue screens, no random shutdowns, and no over heating. i bought a new pc around a year ago that had windows 11 on it and thought it was going to be better... it wasnt... Since using my new pc that had windows 11 ive had issue after issue after issue. its always either a CTD issue or a complete unwanted shutdown, or being completely slowed down by only a couple things open, not to mention i now cant even UPDATE the damn thing so i can update my graphics drivers!!!! keep in mind when my first computer was built i was probably 10 years old and my computer was built solely to run minecraft and thats it and it ran beautifully, even when the computer turned 9 years old. my NEW computer thats built to run EVERYTHING struggles to play destiny 2 with ANYTHING in the background. im going to the computer store soon and theyre going to do a complete install of windows 10 on it. i dont care if theyre discontinuing windows 10 next year, im keeping that system until a new system (not windows 11) can be provided and be more beneficial to me rather than being a complete nuisance
