I recommend the book “Midnight in Chernobyl” (MIC). It’s a very good read. But I learned the basics of how nuclear power plants work, and the different types of radiation. You’ll also read about the effects of the meltdown on the families that lived there. I think though that humans won’t live near that area for a very long time as the half-life of radiation can be easily thousands of years, even longer.

Interesting video. It seems to suggest that if you could spread out the force more evenly on someone’s body less damage would occur to internal organs. So, instead of, say, a seatbelt, some full-blown harness apparatus might be better. But that might be awkward for someone to get into before driving a car.
@Washington-Dreaming2 күн бұрын
F = ma - force equals mass times acceleration - and this should hold even when the acceleration vector is negative. The sign simply denotes direction. But when you’re in a car accident if the car stops violently the magnitude of the acceleration can be huge. The body stops quickly but the internal organs continue moving forward due to momentum - “an object in motion tends to stay in motion” as Sir Isaac Newton might say. So while, say, your face is saved by not being thrown into the windshield or dash your internal organs will then absorb the brunt of this accident. What would be ideal: somehow lengthen the time to a full stop. But that’s probably not possible unless someone’s body had more room to move in a vehicle.

And to be honest I kinda miss when you used to draw yourself as a scientist and a normal guy, like you did before (back when the channel was named: “questions for science”. Keep up the good work!

Currently I only use Lamotrigine, an antidepressant, it always gave me side effects, and Venlafaxine was even worse: affective dullness, I felt unbearable sleepiness and tiredness, I had vivid dreams and sometimes nightmares, I had tremors in my hands, my clitoris became sensitive, if I didn't If I touched it the right way, it hurt, I wouldn't let any guy touch or perform oral on my area, it took longer for me to orgasm, I had shocks in my head, I felt a little "Doped", as if I were a drug addict, my blood pressure increased (although I never had a problem with that), my thyroid became unregulated (and I never had a problem with that either), I couldn't lose weight.

Another factor much more prominent after the pandemic was covid, and long-covid patients (like me). If you're sick for a long enough time there's a chance it becomes PVF (post-viral fatigue). It's still not entirely understood, however there's evidence that has shown the virus to some extent can become latent in the host, and then continuously becomes reactivated upon certain triggers. Triggering an inflammatory sick-like response. It sucks man

Nonsense , Alcohol in "moderation" like 2 beers a day or glass of wine is excellent for you as many studies have shown . Also, the bible advocates moderate use See Psalm 104 : 15 , Ecc 9 : 7 , Isa 55 : 1 [Niv] bible. Studies show people who drink "moderately" live longer than those who abstain google it . Even Christ who made your body as well as everything drank red wine moderately. There is no truth out there all misinformation as a great man of God predicted for our modern times about 4000yrs ago See Isa 59 : 15 [Niv] bible
@chungusballshd8743Күн бұрын
Why are you quoting the Bible when this is a video about science? Many of the pro-alcohol studies you read online are flawed because of selection bias. For example, "non-drinkers" may include former heavy drinkers who have quit (and thus still have negative health effects), and "drinkers" may NOT include those who have actually died due to their alcohol use. So, without knowing every detail about the group being studied, you cannot make an accurate conclusion. Alcohol has an objectively negative effect on your body, and any "health benefit" it provides can be substituted by something far more healthy. For example, alcohol increases HDL (the "good" cholesterol), however tons of other things can increase HDL, like healthy foods and exercise, which are not toxic like alcohol is. I don't judge anyone who drinks, just those who pretend it isn't unhealthy.

3:59 - can you link to that video? Are those real? Regardless I would like to see that. Great job on the whole thing. Starting in September 2022 I started to become really health conscious. I lost 80 pounds, just over a third of my body weight at the beginning and Ive kept it off. I spend the extra money for real food and I eat very little processed food, cooking nearly everything. Chronic inflammation is indeed super bad and there is so much we do now, or don't do now that causes it.

I have been DNA tested multiple times, gotten many blood tests, and have had numerous CT Scans, MRIs and X-Rays. Unfortunately I have at least three autoimmune diseases - I know I have more but don’t even bother getting tested for those nowadays - which creates problems. My mom and siblings had the same symptoms but died before learning the truth. My sister and brother were young and I was alone by the time I was 50. But the problem really is, when you’re young and you have inflammation you can fight through it with diet and exercise. And most of the time you won’t feel “great” but it’s tenable. But then, when you hit, oh, 40 or 50, the pain starts to take over which makes exercise difficult at best. When you hit 60 you simply want to preserve the joints you have left. I believe you can fight as long as you can properly exercise. Most people are absolutely clueless as they don’t understand science but I tell those people, “When I wake up in the morning I feel like I was tackled by Dick Butkus.” (I played football when I was young so I know pain from being tackled, and it’s similar to that, although it doesn’t go away.)

5:04 it's nice that you show a microscopic sample of liver tissue (seen here: H&E stain; subsection of a lobule, a repetitive organizational unit of the liver. in picture: hepatocytes and sinusoids), but the scarring/fibrosis doesn't happen at that level. You'll see the exessive creation of connective tissue around the central vein of each lobule, aswell as around the portal fields - this prevents blood from circulating through the sinuses inbetween the hepatocytes and thus, they can't metabolize sh!t. The connective tissue is also infiltrated with leukocytes, promoting further chronic inflammation. Changes involving the hepatocytes themselves are usually fatty degeneration (steatosis - vesicles of fat forming within the hepatocytes, destroying them). I happened to have just finished a microscopy course involving various pathological samples of human tissues at uni today :)

I have ulcerative colitis. None of the TNF-A Inhibitors worked for me even though I never developed antibodies against the drug. This means the immune system can be extremely stubborn and cause uncontrolled inflammation despite inhibiting the very molecule that's exacerbating the inflammatory process
