Linux mint objectively does EVERYTHING better than windows, my only regret is not switching sooner. That being said I’m not a gamer.

If I bought a WINDOWS 11 machine can I network that machine to the other Windows 10 machines in my house thus provide security. Assuming the old machine have no administrator access?

I don't think a lot of windows 11 or 10 users are going to migrate over to any linux distribution (even MacOS), because of the lack of compatibility with certain (industry used), software that is used often or on a daily basis. For example, SolidWorks. I don't know if Solidworks is compatible with linux, but if its not, then tonnes of engineering students won't ever get close to fully migrating over. They might use linux on their personal computer. Same goes to the work force. Most of the time in projects, you work with others. That means sharing documents/files of the same filetype that software can recognize and modify. But if you're the "black sheep" of the group with your mint setup who can't really open certain files, you're stuck BIG TIME and on a time crunch.

Older computers are NOT the only reason users cannot upgrade to windows 11. Some monitor configurations for business or cockpits cannot operate with the task bar on the bottom of the screen. Independent apps that allow the task bar to be moved can cause glitches in essential software applications. Microsoft tech engineers do not understand when to leave things alone and "not fix what ain't broke"

Personally, Windows 11 is so bad and that it values more on form than actual functionality, BUT the design of it somehow makes me prefer 11, and the little things to it like Customizable on-screen keyboard and Dumbed down tablet mode, and the sleek look. Though i HAVE to use ReviOS to tweak 11 just for it to perform closely to windows 10.

The only thing that kept me from installing Linux was ONE windows-only game that I love playing. Since I swapped my good laptop with my daughter for her lousy one (she is doing her PhD) I can't play it anymore anyway, so Linux, here we come (again). 😂

i have to disagree with you: the fact that "it isn't broken" doesn't automatically mean that "it's good. and yes, it is indeed broken. it performs worse in games, the file explorer is slow and unstable, the entire system settings are very finnicky.... and many many more. in general, it's a much slower and less convenient experience overall.

One thing it does better is play old games. Good luck getting vanilla Diablo 2 running on Windows 11. World of Warcraft Classic and Retail run way better on my machine than in Windows.
