Nice way easier than I thought. Got a huge one in my native tank and was wondering how I could still have it even after it passes in a year or two

Do you guys tell how you cook your crawfish to get them to the perfect peel? What is your preferred method on timing?
@jerrystruhs
@jerrystruhs 20 күн бұрын
I boil them for about eight minutes. When the tail and the body slightly separate, you will see white and they float. That's when they are ready. Either quick cool the water down with ice or strain them out into a cooler and steam with your favorite creole. We leave them in the cooler for about 5 minutes.

This is for everyone that tuned in to learn how to winter ice fish for CrayFish! I have ice fished Strawberry Reservoir with CrayFish traps at the same time 1. Had to cut blocks of ice out with a chainsaw to drop traps in. 2. Baited with fish parts from the fish cleaning station. Better to take your own fish parts. 3. Caught about 40-50 CrayFish with 3 traps in 4 hours. Normal is 50+ CrayFish per trap per hour during the summer. 4. No CrayFish eating our fishing bait. Usually they grab it during the summer if it stays on the bottom for 5 minutes. 5. Winter CrayFishing is a PIA, but worth it to eat hot CrayFish while you ice fish! Patrick Perry Salt Lake City UT

We collected CrayFish as we completed our open water certification dive in Bear Lake, Utah. That evening we had a pizza celebration banquet at Provo Heaps A Pizza. We brought the boiled crayfish tails and decorated one big pizza that everyone said was the best tasting pizza of all! Patrick Perry Salt Lake City UT

Use your cellphone’s Maps to mark each exact set gps location within a few feet and take a picture to identify exactly the spot. !¡! Never use white, orange, red or floating polypropylene rope !¡!

Mike, How long do you boil your crayfish? I have trouble getting them perfectly cooked. Sometimes they just don't come out nice like that, I hate that, they just fall into pieces. What is your procedure on the boil time and do you let them sit in the boil water at all? Thanks!!

What are the advantages and disadvantages of the square trap versus the cylinder trap? I'm going to buy at least one
@jerrystruhs
@jerrystruhs 20 күн бұрын
The square traps are for flat surfaces and the cylinders are for rocky areas. Many people like the cylinders to throw from a shoreline. I use both from a shoreline or a boat. Thanks for the question!

When we put go-pro's down next to the black traps during day time crawfishing, the crawfish would shy away. The tan traps they walk right in the door no issues.
