I own this Stanwood model, and my experience has been it can accommodate a 7oz #4 weight skein of yarn. As disappointing as that is, there are ways to work around it. For larger skeins, I wind half from the inside and the remainder of the skein from the outside. It's not ideal, but it allows for a continuous strand of yarn. It is important to apply some tension to the yarn while winding. Otherwise, the cake is spongy. However, if too much tension is applied, it stretches out the yarn, which is never good. Why wind yarn skeins? It provides an opportunity to inspect the yarn for flaws, i.e., thick and thin spots and knots. These flaws interrupt color flow with variegated/ombre/striped yarns, which may leave you short on yarn to finish your 🧣🧤🧦projects. 🤗🧶

This has been so helpful! I have wound a few cakes using this Stanwood but it’s been quite a few months. I went to wind a pretty expensive Hank of yarn today and what a disaster. After I finally finished I realized that the arm has to be straight in front of the shaft not to the left or the right. I believe mine was rotor the right so I kept getting those 2 strands like you showed what happened to you when the metal arm moved. Fingers crossed the next one works correctly. I also have trouble keeping fingering weight yarn in those slots. It slips right out. Anyway, thanks for a great video. Very helpful!😊

I have the same issue with the crank. This is my second I could return it 2nd one couldn't return it past the return date. I have used different yarn weights. The crank turns great going counter clockwise but nit clockwise.

Thank you for the tutorial. This was also on my wish list and bought it five years ago I took it out to use again and I don’t know why I cannot get the yarn to sit snuggly on the cone the cone seems to move so fast. Appears tight etc. Just putting this out here in case anyone else has a thought. Thanks again

Hi! I have a Sentro machine that I got for Christmas from my aunt last year! I tried to set up an Etsy shop, but with my freshman year of high school happening at the same time, and the season’s timing, it was all just too much so I tabled it until this fall when the timing would be better. I use big twist in my machine as well and it’s worked super well for me! Ironically, the only color that hasn’t worked is my light grey, and I’m not sure why. I probably need to adjust the tension. I also tried to use Bernat Velvet yarn in my machine this morning to make some scrunchies, and it far exceeded my expectations. I didn’t drop a single stitch and it was so soft that I just wanted to rub my cheek on it!

Voltage isn't always an indicator of lowest torque - just the highest. Many drills have VARIABLE torque because plenty of tradespeople don't want to overtighten screws in soft or delicate material. Some even have such low torque settings you could stop it spinning with your hand. So if you've got a regular drill and don't want to buy another, check what settings it has.

I was wondering cause you're installing the sensor inside of the knitting mschine wont that stop the project to knit down into the middle of the circle?

Try another 22 pin sentro, I've had mine for two years and done hundreds of projects on it and it's still working well. I do take it apart and oil the moving parts from time to time to keep it running smoothly.

if you use velcro, then you can easily remove the device to change the battery in the counter. I used velcro on the device and the magnet counter.

Yes, I put purchase of 32 sentro 😊, but it had a different name on it and it worked for almost a month yes I have addi 22 and 46 it worth every dime I bought my niece 22 sentro😊

I have this same set of yarn (It's called Loops & Threads now) and I'm having the same issues you did with the multi yarn in the sentro! It just doesn't play nice. I have to slow down quite a bit to get it to work out. I would just use it to crochet instead. The solid was fine.

Have you tried Walmarts hometown yarn?

Mine had gear issues and clunks made it a total of 10 rows . Why sell it if it's a toy to people. My 48 needle works great.
