What a lovely video..thanks. Keep up the good work, as the production values, were all top-rank. Gotta love those little Malachite Green & Sunshine Yellow carriages & I was glad to see the island looking so green & lush with vegetation. Great to hear you even wrote your own piano pieces, which perfectly compimented your voice-over & did so much to capture the atmosphere surrounding such a classic old steam railway. I would have enjoyed a few Terriers too..Hey..but what the heck..those little blue & red lined austerity saddle-tanks performed their jobs perfectly for your film. Thanks again for the enjoyment your piece of film gave to those who watch it.

My late parents loved Will Hay so of course in time I did too. My favourite film was 'Oh Mr Porter'. I ended up living close to this old line, I am a steam train lover and it is so sad what Beeching did to this country ripping up railways, destroying communities and making people unemployed and homeless WELL DONE BEECHING. It would be lovely to see this trackbed relaid as a Heritage line. I must visit this place. Thanks for sharing.

Another stunning video from Melchester, which is rapidly becoming one of my favourite layouts; largely because of the excellent commentary (and sometimes the storyline) that accompanies the film. You just need to sync the sound levels with the different clips that you include. Regards, Eric.

I often frustrate fellow conservatives by letting them know I'm a tree hugger! With me it's similar to what I've read elsewhere in the responses I take it from what I consider to be a Christian perspective and not one that deals with man's legislation and the use of government but one that deals with what God tells us through scripture! Sooo...Just as Christ has saved me and asked for him in my life by own free will he has done so by his own free will! From the King James Version of The Holy Bible In The 13 Chap. of The Book of Psalms at 13:22 - A good man leaveth an inheritance to his children's children: And the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just. Being righteuos as far as God is concerned NEVER goes out of style!

Great vid , but I'm confused about dating. I want stock that would be relevant to the 40s, are you saying that the ones sold by Kernow on offer are 50s era, because of the colour? I thought it was SR green, not BR green, and that SR green was used in the 40s ?
@melchestermodelrailway
@melchestermodelrailway 5 ай бұрын
Yes, It can be a confusing subject! Anything in Southern Malachite Green that features the "Southern" lettering would be fine for the 40's prior to 1948, so the first two sets (Set 44, and 973) would both be suitable, also anything in the Southern Railway Olive Green livery. All the other sets featured are from the BR era (i.e. 1948 onward) when much of the rolling stock that had been painted in Crimson and Cream was repainted into Southern (BR) Green. It's a bit of a minefield! I found BloodandCustard.org to be a very helpful resource in researching the dates of the liveries I featured in this video. You may find it helpful too.

That 'not a Southern' signal box looks grand. Being an American who has long had a an interest, though something of a low key interest, in UK trains it is only within the past several years, and through the Trainz railroad simulator that I've even begun to be aware of the differences between signal box styling.

Hello, it's a very nice layout 👍, I have a question why did you choose switching motors on the table and not under the running surface?
@melchestermodelrailway
@melchestermodelrailway 6 ай бұрын
Thanks. It was my first layout using point motors so I wasn't too sure if everything would work, so I used surface motors in case I had to move the location of points and track. Also the layout is only 9 inches above the floor so access underneath is not the easiest although not impossible.
