You said bring enough clothing for 1/2 your days. I say: bring enough clothing for a week. Then, if you stay for 10 weeks, just wear the clothing over and over. You are travelling to see, not be seen. Tired of them? If you must, donate and buy a few things.

I visited Granada a few years ago and went to what was recommended to me as the place to go for tapas. It is Calle Navas and some of the tapas bars there are famous especially Los Diamantes, a tapas bar specializing in seafood. I'm surprised you made no mention of this location but then again the audio on your video was not of the best quality since the background noise almost completely drowned out your dialogue.
@SophiesTravelSecrets3 ай бұрын
Nice to hear that you had the chance to visit Granada. Los Diamantes was on our list but we only could go to so many places in one evening. Agreed, the background noise was very loud - even using an external mic. Next time, when filming with another person, will use 2 lapel mics.
@brianmcallister1142 ай бұрын
I must add another comment. I really appreciate your post and I am looking forward to visiting Granada again and taking advantage of the information you shared. I must admit to a certain amount of jealously when I saw that you visited Granada only a few months ago and I wish that I had been there to share this fantastic city with you. I planned to tour Andalucia and the white hill towns and avoid Barcelona and Madrid because I wanted to meet regular Spanish people and not other tourists like myself. I toured Malaga, Gibraltar (I know it's not Spanish), Tarifa (I have a pic of me being the southernmost person on the European continent), Jerez, Arcos de la Frontera, Zahara de la Sierra, Ronda and Granada. Granada was initially an afterthought but OMG it turned out to be the highlight of my trip. As the hostess of the BBC TV series "Secret Spain" said, the Al Hambra "is a place you have to see before you die". But getting back to the theme of your video, I value your input and when I visit Granada again I will do so with your list of tapas bars readily accessible in my pocket. Thank you again.

Great video! My wife and I are planning a trip for next spring. I was wondering if you ran into any issues with the anti tourism protests? Was there any negative vibes from locals? We have been seeing so many things come out lately about this in Spain.
@SophiesTravelSecrets5 ай бұрын
Glad you enjoyed the video! You must be so excited for your trip next spring. I didn’t run into any protests when I was there and found the locals to be friendly. I think it’s also about being mindful & respecting the culture. A warm smile & being courteous while travelling can go a long way. 😉

Nice overview. I was there in May and it rained all day on May 1st, so I was afraid I'd get rained on at the Alhambra the next day, but it cleared up nicely. My underrated gem in town was the Lorca museum, but you have to be familiar with his works to enjoy it.

The temperature would have been nice in May, a lot cooler than July. 😄 That’s great to hear the rain cleared up the day you went to the Alhambra. Thank you for the tip, will have to check it out next time I’m in Granada! 🇪🇸

Finally! Someone doing a carryon only video who is realistic! Very practical. Could be more minimal but for people who are struggling to carryon only, it's a good start FYI: KZbin isn't letting me like this video. You may want to look into this. Happens every now and then, and as a creator of good content you deserve more likes

Hi Susie, so glad you found the video helpful! I honestly use these tips when I travel! I even find myself still bringing a couple extra pieces that I could have done without. I end up re-wearing shorts for summer trips & sweaters for winter trips. That’s very strange it won’t let you like the video. I checked the settings on the back end and everything is set up as normal. Perhaps it was a glitched?
@susie98936 ай бұрын
@@SophiesTravelSecrets yup, I think we all are, at least tempted, to do that. You get the bag packed and you think: I could fit this in too. But I've found, giving in to that temptation, usually results in an unused item of clothing 😏 And yes, I think it must have been glitching as there were a few other videos I wanted to like that day and wasn't able to. Have been able to fix today (But I have seen some videos where I wanted to like and couldn't and they had no likes despite millions of views. Don't believe that so now I don't trust YT to do the right thing)

thanks for this! i'll have to ponder the hiring a skipper part of your advice. the main issue i see is that then we need a bigger boat because there's an extra person, and also now we can't be 100% ourselves bc we have to "behave" in front of a stranger. but you make good points.
@SophiesTravelSecrets6 ай бұрын
You're so welcome Rachel. This is one of my old videos but there are a LOT of useful tips on here. My editing has improved since then lol. You 100% want a skipper. They've probably seen it all so feel free to enjoy as you wish, just be respectful. Sometimes, you have to get going early in the AM due to the tides so I suspect there will be some quiet nights lol. ;) Are you heading Croatia soon??

@@SophiesTravelSecrets we decided to postpone our trip until one person in our group could get all the certifications and be the skipper! this person is already a boat expert, they just need the certs. no matter who is driving the boat (them or a professional skipper) i will be coasting with my feet up!

First time traveler and this helped so much. I'm only traveling 5 days max, but I was stressing out since it's literally my first time traveling and years since I traveled through an airplane. Last and first time I got in an airplane was a small one I was 14, it's been about 10 years since then. My husband and I are traveling to Washington over the summer and heading to three different cities, one of them being Seattle. My husband was asking me if we needed to bring a raincoat or something, and I told him I'm not sure. Definitely need to look into the weather and do my research on summer weather for Washington specifically the areas we'll be in for those 4 days.

My biggest issue is having to wash shirts. What hand wash soap do you use and is it hard to do?
@SophiesTravelSecrets9 ай бұрын
I just bring a laundry bar soap with me. You can order the one I put in the video or any other laundry bar soap will do.
@Susanarylander9 ай бұрын
@@SophiesTravelSecretsthanks! Have never tried one. Will Order the one you recommend here!
@susie98936 ай бұрын
@@Susanarylanderyou can do better than that. I suggest laundry sheets. Much lighter and more compact than a bar of soap (especially if you can get an idea of how many times you'll need to handwash while away). When drying a shirt I always hope the hotel will have hangers that can be removed from the closet. So much better to drip dry on a hanger - better shape, no need to iron. But tossing over shower rail works too (especially if you place it over a clean towel. And don't forget to wring it dry wrapped in a towel before you hang it up - fast tracks drying time)
