The jury should have convicted him though. While what that guy was doing was disgusting you don't accidentally beat someone to death and he most certainly didn't know of any weapon present and he only knew of one other potential victim. Further more he put himself in that situation by going back to meet the guy again. He may have even premeditated the murder if he found out the person was a man which would explain why he put himself in that situation again now wouldn't it? He should have been convicted of at least manslaughter but the jury wasn't taking the law into account. A jury wont convict someone who is guilty under the legal definition of a crime if they feel that person was justified even when the law doesn't account for "justification" in any way. In my experience as a teller, such a large cashier's check would require an approval from the Branch Leader, and they would ask the person making the check what their intentions are. Considering the man was elderly and the check was not typical (i.e. car or house payment) and was not for family, the branch leader should have sat the man aside and discussed it with him further. I can only speak in regards to the bank I work for but I'm shocked the fraud wasn't stopped once he needed to cut such a large cashier's check.

Jerry Smith chose to be a predator and with that comes its consequences. Etute being found not guilty felt like the right verdict. This man was the scum of society. I know his family stood up for him but objectively he destroyed many people through his own deviant evil. Jerry Smith would’ve never been assaulted if he wasn’t luring kids to his home to abuse them. I wonder how he did not realise something was wrong if the lights were off and the date had a mask on them. Even cis males who are concerned about women being trans always check downstairs if the woman is biologically female or not. But the problem is: if you're a man who likes looking downstairs, either you might be gay or a PDF file. And no I have nothing against gay men focusing on ph4lli, or p£n1ses. And don't get me wrong not all gay men are interested in gay sx, as Stephen Fry once said. I would be called out as a h0m0ph0be if I made homos£xuality all about sx, even though the suffix is about sx. I do have something against h0m0phobic male predators who identify as straight and become mad at everyone suggesting they might be gay, even though they may ironically engage in gay sx more than gays themselves. I don't identify as gay but I don't like h0m0phobes and I am irrationally scared of becoming a predators's victim. I know many men who are insecure about their s£xuality want to take it on people who seem to be doing better than them, especially if said insecure men were CSA victims and can't put up with other men's v1rginity. Morbid jealousy if I may say so myself. It's not the idea of being gay that scares me the most, it's the idea of being humiliated and destroyed by jealous people because I still have the s£xual innocence of a ch1ld. People believe whatever they want about me, as long as they don't weaponise their beliefs to try to bring me down
