I know I've already left a comment, but I've been thinking about this a lot, and I still don't understand it. This is clearly just an edgy fluff piece from an old TTRPG manual, but all the comments are saying it's so realistic, and that the world is just like this. Is this a real opinion many people have? In my mind, it usually makes sense why something is being called racist, or sexist, or so on, and even when people don't get it right, it's almost always intended to move culture in a positive direction, towards actual equal standing between groups that have historically been unequal, not out of greed. And American society isn't collapsing into several ideologies that argue all others are invalid- gay people don't usually push against trans people having equal rights, and trans people don't usually push against people of color having equal rights. They're usually all working together, so they can all have equal rights together. American society is really just split into two groups- those who think women, queer people, people of color, trans people, etc. are valid and deserve equal rights, and those who either deny that those people don't have equal rights, or believe that they don't deserve them. Does anyone here want to clue me into where this ideology comes from, and why/how it differs so widely from my own? I really don't understand how someone could look at the world I live in and see everything so differently.

I could just imagine an entire crowd of people standing off. It’s impossible to know who fired the first shot or who the hell you’re going to shoot when that happens but there’s just a crowd of people standing off eachother.

Anybody surprised at the accuracy of this is ignorant t of liberalism throughout history. Its* literally the core cause of the collapses of western societies since the beginning. The final straw is this trans nonsense that we are currently trying in. Give it 20 or 30 years. *rampant and unchecked liberalism

You see the flaw in leftist "thinking" when they praise diversity, while at the same time claiming all people are equal. Now which is it? Can't have both.

@@unter1103but humans ARE diverse. Diversity exists everywhere whether you like it or not, the goal is to make it so that diversity doesn’t matter because everyone is equal. So what do you prefer, attack minorities because they are different? Create an ethnostate? Deport them? If you’re in an all black workplace and 2 white guys start working there is that level of diversity bad?

the original quote is from a 1995 book called "Cyberpunk: Neo Tribes - The Nomads of North America" set in pondsmith's cyberpunk universe (cyberpunk 2077 is the one derivative work that most people know), here's some extra context above and below the posted text (click read more): PROTECT AND RESPECT YOUR CLAN, AND ABOVE ALL, YOUR FAMILY. YOUR WORD IS YOUR BOND. SHARE WITH YOUR CLANFOLK. RESPECT THE PRIVACY AND PROPERTY OF YOUR CLAN. NEVER CAUSE TROUBLE FOR YOUR CLAN. TAKE ONLY A FAIR WAGE FOR A DAY'S WORK. These are simple rules for a simple culture: work hard, be fair, protect the family. Words to live by, and words to die for. The nomad lifestyle is far more than a vehicle, a tent, and an attitude; nomad life is governed by imperatives as powerful as any cor- porate regulations, and a whole lot more moral besides. Following these simple rules, nomad families eventually coalesced into larger and larger groups, all centered on this common ethic. Today the majority of nomads are affiliated with one of the Seven Nations; each is a major nomad group and a powerful economic and political force to be reckoned with. Although the Nations act independently, they are united in their respect for each other's cultural and social roots. DIVERSITY AND UNITY It is now accepted among historical scholars that in the decades before the Collapse, America suffered from the sicknesses of racism and "cultural identity". Everyone wanted to be seen as special. Every group had to be "equal" to or preferably better than its neighbors, and fought to protect its "special" rights. If anyone had something that someone else wanted, they were painted as racist, sexist, elitist or worse. This divisive "me first" attitude eventually tore the fabric of American culture apart and caused it to self-destruct in a fireball of competing ideologies, none of which truly recognized each other's validity. Diversity led inexorably to anarchy. In contrast, the key to the survival of the nomad culture have always been unity. The nomads understand that they are nomads first. All the cultural identity in the world will not save them if they do not help each other. Their common condition ensures few disagreements on cultural issues. Where once members of the Jodes and Aldecaldo clans almost went to war over the reconstruction rights for Los Angeles, there is now a bidding etiquette and compensation for losing parties...
