OG realm royale was some of the most fun i ever had with a battle royale. Then high-rez fucked it. Like one patch they gave SMGs no fall off damage, gray SMGs were stronger than legy weapons.

Something that was interesting about crafting is that forges were special locations players had to get to and once you started forging, there was a period for you to get the weapon which turned it into a short king of the hill challenge during the match. Funnily enough, Fortnite added later to the game a similar mechanic with POIs that can be captured, where the rewards are random but always legendary. A similar thing happened with Siege in Paladins being straight up copied by Overwatch. Hi-rez is it's own worst enemy...

This game had the best Audio I have ever found in an FPS. I play OverWatch and can't tell if Tracer/Mercy or Widowmaker are infront or behind me. The audio in Realm Royal was Crisp and the most accurate ever. Really miss that game.

That shitty OP Engineer killed the game. I don't like to play with that class, I hate it. After Engineer appeared, lobbies were full of shitty flying and self healing gun Engineers. OP Engineers everywhere. I just couldn't kill them or even hide from them. Devs just don't know how to balance the game. After OP Warrior they screwed up everything with even more OP Engineer.

I played realm royale, from its launch to its downfall and then to its atempt of beggining again and then going cold, the game was everything the public wanted back in 2018, an original battle royale, then hi rez proceeded to fumble the biggest bag ever and step on it, if the game fell in the hands of a good company i bet it would be thriving to this day, i suggest looking into spellbreak, its another fantasy battle royale that was very cool but eventually failed, theres also an voxel mmorpg called Trove that i think would be interesting getting into.

Engineer with the pip gun killed the game. There was a point where you couldn’t compete unless you ran this build. Hi rez never balanced it and the population fell off overnight.

Used to play everyday, they even sponsored so many tournaments for streamers and it pulled a huge audience, that's how I even watched XQC for the first time as well. It was a great fun back when the game released, since I never enjoyed Fortnite to begin with, but Realm Royale somehow clicked, it was fast and fun. I've followed a lot of their updates, they rushed to patch the game with "fixes" but it turns out it was too fast and their attempt to damage control ended up hurting the game way more. The game had balancing problems, we all knew that, but their rushed attempts to fix those problems didn't work, and they even tried to revert a few changes, and still things just kept getting worse and worse. They tried to even "rework" the game without classes, so that years laters they come up with "reforged". Their game probably was never going to succeed long term with their graphics and animations, but they could just keep the game stable and unique by itself, and they didn't, they killed it FAST.

Hi-Rez is a studio that needs to be studied. Truly a mindblowing group of people who create great games and manage to just fumble what they have. I LOVED going to the forges and crafting, knowing there was smoke coming out of the forge and other players could see it. Getting rid of the ability to craft legendaries was so stupid.

Honestly, realm royale holds a special place in my heart, back when fortnite was the king of games in 2017-2019 realm royale was one kf those battle royale games i didnt play but knew about and watched streamers play,i trued playing it once ina while but dropped it, weird relationship with the game 😭but i recently traveled and i brought my switch, i saw realm royale reforged and i was like "well alright, ill try to play it" and now i cant stop playing it 😭its so fun, my 3fav battle royale game, its so well puton switch too. Solid 30fps unlike fortnite,but its fine since i play fortnite on myxbox series s along with warzone

I still love this game. I play on PS4 numerous times a week. I play cross-platform with my son on his Switch, but lately, an error code keeps appearing when he tries to go to the shop or start a match.

I played it back in 2018. Aside from the class system, I loved that it actually rewarded aggressive playstyles. In most Battle Royal games you can just hide and go full defense for the entire game until it's a 1v1, but in Realm Royal, taking out players rewarded you with chicken trophies which allowed you to craft legendary gear. Needless to say, when they removed this in one of the patches, I lost interest. The funny part is, my gf at the time predicted it because she already had experience with Hi Rez games before and had no doubt that they were gonna ruin it. I didn't know about them at the time, but I learned my lesson. Even if they release a great game, don't play it. They are sure to destroy it.

It’s funny and sad how consistently hi-rez drives their games into the ground. With one of their most recent games Divine Knockout, they dissolved the development team in a company restructuring because all they care about is Paladins and Smite. They couldn’t ruin it with updates because they barely had the chance to. The only good thing is that they have no plans to turn off the servers despite it being unprofitable (which is their own fault since they barely marketed the game. They didn’t even announce when the game became free to play (it was $25 USD before)).

Thank you for featuring my gameplay throughout the end :) really well put video, but I want to add a few things: - the latest update was last August, which brought the new map. Another patch was supposed to follow suit, but has been paused as; - the entirety of Reforged has been maintained mostly by 2 - yes, two - developers, occasionally with some help from the Paladins team. Both of the develpers have been sent to work on other Hi-Rez games which is slowing updates even further. - the game currently gets around 50k players a week, steamcharts numbers have been very inaccurate for a long time now Once again, great video! :)

Forgot about this game. I played it for a bit back in 2019 I think on PS4, and found it pretty fun. I just had more friends on other games to keep it going. I recently downloaded RR: Reforged for PC and having a lot of fun with it. Have a few streams of it on my channel, but I really hope the game gets some traction again. Wonder if the devs will support it and keep updating it?

my first game was awful, game lagged so much due to my laptop specs, so i just stopped after first try. Next time, however, was better, even tho it was after all of these updates, in 2018. It was somewhat fun to play and have a chat with frends in game, but after some time game became boring, we learned all effective strats (which is just any weapon with fire element) and began to come up with unusual strats, for example - assasin's invis + minigun from drop. And even with that game was pretty boring, we used it just to talk and play something chill. Reforged update took from us every unique ideas we came up and give us same problems - legendary is imbalanced, warriors are the best, best-in-slot builds. Also we joked that anything named "reforged" is already doomed to fail because of controversial warcraft III reforged update

I remember buying the founder's package (or whatever it was called) on ps4 to get early access to the game. A couple weeks later it was released for free and they gave ps plus users the battle pass. Meanwhile people who bought the pack didn't get shit, the founder's pack skins were a single chicken skin and a single horse skin 🤡

I play a bit every now and then and wouldn't recommend to anyone unfortunately, at least on console, tiny map and only 5-10 players in my diamond rank lobbies (maybe 15 if it's mid day) so you get 90% bots, not very fun. On top of that the assassin is so unbalanced it's near impossible to play any other class, I used them all for the platinum and he was so easy it was embarrassing, no aim assist either so it's super easy to adjust to hit heads, maybe it's different on m and key but I doubt it.

even if they roll back all the bad updates i don't think they're gonna have the same chance again. they had a golden one to be a solid competitor to other major titles but they wasted it. and now the battle royale craze has died down every still going battle royale game has solidified its place and established its playerpace. i dont think anyone who invested alot of time and effort into pubg or FN is going to shift games now. it is amazing how hirez blew up their chance. they almost did the same thing with paladin. but since there was no other powerfull title to compete with overwatch like FN did with pubg, people kept coming back to paladins. despite hirez trying their hardest to ruin the game. the only game in their catalogue that felt somewhat decent was Smite. because it was a unique take on the moba genre.

Still playing realm . Steam is no longer the most accurate player count.There is more players on epic games and console than on steam. Saying that, with the new map with 40 players max you get an average of 10 real players per match. Still loads of fun but really needs some bug fixes and an update.
