I came from wow for a couple of months, realized that the games are very similar in all the wrong ways, and the difference in combat are not in XIV’s favor. Wow used to had a strict rotation, but they moved to priority system to spice things up, while XIV remained with the 1-2-3 spam with 99% predictability.

Good thing she stopped playing before dawntrail. Happy ending

I miss that game. It had lots of problems and I think that kind of game inherently has a very toxic community, but I just loved existing in that world, I spent so much time farming and doing trade runs

@@vods840 I have good memories working on AK, the players there loved the game dearly. One thing I was very happy about is that I was able to convince management to add back some Eidolons that the US office removed from the game (to lock behind the cash shop) into the game (as they should be). Something that really saddened me is how fighting bots was a lost battle from the get go - the devs didn't have any bots in the TW server so they never really implemented much to combat that problem (they simply told us to ask people to enter their government ID number like in Taiwan, which I had to explain is NOT something acceptable in the western gaming scene). One last funny tidbit was the HUGE lagspike when the server rolls over to the next day. I think at one point it was so bad that you had like a 2 min freeze. That one got improved by the devs though!

@@SamanthaSam13 No, I was responsible for overseeing US/EU servers shortly after their launch (Aeria Games side). So basically, trying to make sure we could roll out the updates the devs sent us in time, earning enough revenue to keep the servers running, sending suggestions to the devs from the western playerbase, etc etc. Those who made the game are the Taiwanese devs!

Funnily I've played Runescape, WoW, Rose Online, Pirates of the Caribbean Online, SWTOR, ESO, Tera, and Rift. Probably tried a couple others that I can't remember. Somehow no overlap whatsoever

@@aokyoutsuki7744 FF7 came out AGES ago though. runescape is an active game, theres a bit of a difference.

Played GW2 for literally like a few hours and then basically never again. The only MMO I actually played for a decent amount was Tera (RIP), because it had 2 main things going for it: 1. Unironically one of the best combat systems I've encountered in MMOs (and that's more of a dig at the other games than a compliment of the 'genius' of Tera) 2. Elin cute
