My sentiments exactly, i will ride until i can't throw my leg over, then i'll buy a three wheeler, motorcycling once it gets in your blood is nearly impossible to leave off of, i ride nearly every day including in winter if rods are clean & temperature is somewhere near reasonable, at 76 yrs young, my bikes are the love of my life. Corny maybe, but when i'm out riding, all troubles just seem to fade into non existence. Thanks for your videos, most enjoyable, ric, ontario canada, i wish these greenies would just p--- off & let us just get on with living our lives in peace.

Just watching your film about the air base and about the longest runway, Where I am (Warrington, Cheshire) is I believe (well was I should say) the biggest American air base outside of the USA (Burtonwood) during WW2, I lived not too far away, as kids we use to go over to take a look, but we couldn't get in, GI guards on the gate.
@Volcanicbrown18786 күн бұрын
@paulhoughtonhhoughton9188 Bentwaters was originaly built as an RAF base to deal with WW2, The RAF handed the base over to the USAF at the start of the cold war period and they stayed until 1993. Like all the American guards on the gates, you didn't mess with them!

Would you consider going with bar end mirrors? I have trouble seeing around my shoulders.
@Volcanicbrown18786 күн бұрын
@Rob-lj3kf Yes, bar end mirrors are one option, Mirror stalk extenders are another. RE made two different lengths of mirror stalks for the old Bullets. Personaly, I'm not a huge fan of bar end ones as they are a bit vulnerable being wider than the handlebars, although that being said, I have bar ends on my classic 500 (Only because it wouldn't fit in my van with the original mirrors!)

@arthurlynch1549 Hi there! The 500's have lines scribed on the rear adjusters, which is ok if you like counting lines! Best bet is a straight edge contacting the four points of both wheel rims. Thanks for the compliment!

My old Indian built 350 Bullet , pre royal, the g,box case was so poorly cast sections of it were porous. My opinion, worthless, the grease was a bodge to compensate for poor sealing faces. Even with 'sealing grease' the lube mix, grease and oil , would still leak when it got warm. I added a breather through fill plug. Helped a lot but never totally fixed that leak. I enjoy your vids.
@Volcanicbrown18787 күн бұрын
@leondown6869 The quality of the earlier ones was pretty dire at best, The very late ones were greatly improved quality wise and 2006-2008 seem to be the best years and the ones I tend to go for!

I've got three 500s, two UCEs and my trusty old iron barrel. Question for you Dave....is it worth replacing the OEM silencer on the UCE 500s, or are there advantages to keeping it? I'd be curious to know your perspective.
@Volcanicbrown18788 күн бұрын
@felixVanDiemen First thing I did when I bought my new UCE Classic was to throw away the original factory silencer and put a Hitchcock's one on. The factory efforts are good at two things, silencing and restricting!
@felixVanDiemen7 күн бұрын
@@Volcanicbrown1878 Thanks, that was my suspicion as well. Another channel I follow, old school ADV rider has left his on, which got me thinking as he seems to know his stuff too 🤔
@Volcanicbrown18787 күн бұрын
@@felixVanDiemen The difference was noticable when the silencer was changed on mine, so much so that it now pulls a 18T geabox sprocket wuth ease and at a steady 60mph on a run gives me over 120 miles per imperial gallon of fuel!
@felixVanDiemen7 күн бұрын
@@Volcanicbrown1878 That makes a lot of sense! It's weird though, the silencers on the J Series Classic 350 seem pretty decent, I wonder why they got the ones on the Classic 500 so wrong?

I have owned both and of course essentially the bikes are at least 50 years apart in terms of technology. They simply prove, I think that motor cycle development had started to plateau around the 1960s. The new Bullet is a little bit faster, al little bit smoother, brakes a bit better, lights the road a bit better, is a bit more economical. Both are very effective transportation devices. A very nice thing about the new 350 is that it is still air cooled, has a centre stand and is not laden with unwanted technology. It is still quite a simple bike and easy for the owner to look after and service which is lot more than you can say about many modern bikes. Personally I think an electric boot is superfluous on a 350 but you can't sell a bike with just a kick start anymore. In India they make enormous sense where the conditions make a simple air cooled 350 the perfect motorcycle. I am very happy that Royal Enfield are succeeding with an updated product line that carries on their heritage and sticks very much to the ethos of the older bikes. Simple, rugged, well built and affordable. They couldn't go on selling the old 1950s stuff for ever.

My 1999 Harley Davidson Sportster 883 is the most modern bike I want to have. I have a collection of British and German motorcycles as well as a Euro and a Java and a Vespa. It costs enough to keep one bike on the road I used to keep four on the road but it got to be too expensive.

I have been so excited waiting for this bike and felt sure I’d order one immediately however I’m disappointed. It’s at least 30kg overweight and it looks as if the designer gave up from the petrol tank back! The back wheel looks too small with all that space above it under the mudguard and apart from the black and chrome one, the colours are horrible! The red and cream one seems to have ‘Royal Enfield’ written in sharpie on the tank. Maybe it’ll look better with the pillion seat or in a Bullet version when they do one…
