I have a 1948 1 ton Dodge duly Farm truck.. And I would like to convert the front drums to disc breaks, is that possible?
@EDGClassics8 күн бұрын
I’m sure it is. However, I work mostly with Chevrolet and Ford, so I’m not familiar with a Dodge conversion. Good luck though!
@SoulDaddy3311 күн бұрын
Very sweet indeed, but wondering how you come to a stop with no brakes?
@EDGClassics11 күн бұрын
I added a front drum and the original coaster brake still works on this bike.

It’s crazy that you were able to build that tank yourself! Now That would make a great video. After everything, I think I’m definitely least confident in replicating that part. What kind of poly tank have you got in there? Most I see don’t feel like they would fit the limited space. Do you just cut holes in the facade tank for the cap and fuel lines? Great stuff either way man. Love what you do
@EDGClassics26 күн бұрын
Thank you for the kind words! The poly tank depends on the model of bike I’m building. I use some from tecumseh engines used on various equipment. It was trial and error that allowed me to find the ones that fit inside the tank I’m building. And yes, the neck is extended and comes through the metal shell to be filled.

@@EDGClassics Really cool of you to reply, and so quickly too. Thanks so much! I just had one more thing I was wondering, if you happen to know off the top of your head, About how wide did you end up making your tanks? Yours are one of the few I’ve seen that don’t look too skinny proportionally. Really appreciate everything you’ve shared

@mr.chaosvicious5968Ай бұрын
What EDG said, try building one because you can build it EXACTLY to your own personal specifications. If you don't have the necessary tools and/or skills needed to do so (like a welder) then ask a buddy or family member that you know who does to help you out and offer to let them ride it around after its finished or offer to help them to make their own as a form of repayment.

What chain are you running to the rear sprocket? 415 or 420? I can find freewheel sprockets for the jack shaft but they all take 420 chain the rear sprockets take 415 chain.

I’m running 420 chain. I know that the 415 sprockets are thinner but I haven’t had any issues running the 420 chain on them.

What did you used for such stylish fuel cap on that tank? Also what hub attachment is it?
@EDGClassics2 ай бұрын
They are actually brass caps used for for garden hoses. There are several different styles to choose from. The hub attachment is from MB Rebel. They can be purchased on eBay too but make sure it matches the sprocket you’re using.

Could you please mention here all parts used in that setup? I'm based in Poland and I'm trying to build my first Board Track Racer but it is super difficult to find all parts needed as they have different names here too ( but I can try with stranslator). Also, could you show how to attach rear sprocket on a wheel hub?

You probably get this a lot, but where did you get your frames for these? Did you build them yourself?
@EDGClassics2 ай бұрын
It varies. I’ve picked them up from Harken Cycles, Moto Madness, and others. Sportsman flyer makes a nice frame too but I haven’t used one of theirs yet.

@@EDGClassics Hey, thanks for the reply. Do you have a favourite from the ones you’ve used? And out of the ones you’ve tried at least, are they all about the same size? You wouldn’t happen to know the wheelbase on that harken frame off the top of your head, would you?
@EDGClassics2 ай бұрын
My frame preference depends on what I’m tryin to replicate, but they are all pretty close to the same size. Quality has been about the same too. I haven’t had any crack or bend.
@EDGClassics2 ай бұрын
My Harley tribute uses a Harken frame and it has a 51” wheel base. However, keep in mind that this can change with the forks you select. Other forks can add an addition 2 inches.

How much does something like this cost?
@EDGClassics3 ай бұрын
There are so many variables and options that need to be discussed before you can answer that accurately. Are you building it yourself or is someone building it for you? What engine, what forks? Which frame or are you custom making one? What wheels and brakes are you using? In 2024, building one yourself can cost anywhere from $1500 to $2500 using basic parts. Having someone build it for you optioned the way this one is can cost $6k-$8k. This is very wide range. You have to decide what options are important to you.
