Wow, great training day! I started watching your videos a couple of years ago. Thanks to you I started training downhill running before a race. Not only my downhill speed and stability improved but also uphill is much easier when your legs are fresh after a 1500m D- :).

This was really useful! I don't do marathons or races, but I do live in a very hilly and mountainous place (appalachian mountains) and this'll keep me from wearing myself out walking around town. thanks!

Love your approach here! Very simple and not overwhelming. I know this video is from four years ago but I love stumbling upon workouts that are simple yet effective especially in the age of short videos which are short but too many sometimes with different workouts or drills being presented and it can get a bit overwhelming even though it's all well intentioned and informative. Appreciate your video very much!

One advantage of having electrolytes in the gels is at the aid stations. If I don't have to add it to my drink, I can just go for the water and not have to fiddle with another packet or stand in another line for the pre-mixed electrolytes. Loving your vlog BTW. Sorry I missed you at Zugspitze (I tried nearly every Bix product you had on the table there - great stuff!) maybe I'll catch you next year. Keep up the inspiration 🤟

Beautiful footage man. Chamonix is the most beautiful place I've ever been to (although some of your last runs are now bucket lists). Funny thing - we got to the cable cars at exactly 6:06 pm, and since Europeans are on time (unlike us in Jamaica), they were like nope we're gone for the day.

@vlad thanks for the video. Ironically I reckon after a few years of ultras I recently nailed the technique of runnable uphills and it was exactly what I just got from your video too. I was wondering though…..I’m not as sure for technique on steep hiking. Particularly technical. With the added energy cost of pole planting etc is it still small cadence, and small steps. I find myself on really steep and technical doing larger strides and aiming to place feet on rocks etc. but not sure it feels efficient. Was wondering in these type of terrains (eg Glasgow climb in the Dandies in Victoria if you know it), should I be firing the poles quickly with short steps or does it differ? Cheers mate
