Get a baofeng UV-5r and use that, maybe a cheap DMR radio and a backup program them both the same and keep one good working incase you need it. You do not need crazy encryption because you shouldn't be discussing anything that would be too important over a radio like that.

Commo is vital, and radios are a vital conponent of communitations. Some poeople get obsessed with just radio (some ham guys) and miss the point. Which was mentioned in this video, namely that radios wnable us to do somthing else. Radio is always secondary. Some folks will say something like "ham radio lets us do x or y" but its the RADIO that lets you do stuff. Yes it is important for various reasons to abide by law amd regulation howrver arbitrary they are, but wt the end of the day the skills and knowlege of the radio teliphone operaror is extremely usedul to accomplish the mission, whatever that mission is.

Besides repeaters is there other things related to radios and comms that i need to look out for in my area/community when choosing a radio? How do i find out what type of repeaters are in my area and how do i know what radios would work best in my area?
@markwirezКүн бұрын
Only downside to the Yaesu is that it doesn't have any true form of digital format and therefore is lacking any type of encryption capability. Great brand for the HAM community and it's use case regardless of MARS mod's being done to it.

Communication is the foundation of success. Well besides Jesus and all. And being a Texan. And Barrow Creek Breweing. But besides those things communications is the foundation for success. And Crow's burgers on a Saturday. But besides all those things? Comms is King.

Outstanding video to help folks intro into the comms world of preparedness. I started with the UV5R, got my general ham license and graduated up to Yaesu. I wanted my general license because I want intra-state comms w/out cell phone or the written word, and also because I have an old school Kenwood tube HF that's begging to be resurrected. Question on the Motorola XTS-5000 - have you done any capability vids on that? Can I use Chirp or RT Systems to program them? Aside from durability what makes that your go-to radio? Is that as close as we can get to my old PRC-152 minus legit encryption?
@BlueSkooma20 сағат бұрын
You cannot use chirp to program a XTS2500 you would have to use the Motorola software. Its probably the go-to because its expensive lol. You can get real encryption on a anytone at least aes256 on supposedly legit hardware and firmware, You can get a 10W DMR and it would be probably about the same as the PRC152 besides freq range and Encryption standard

I like the ruger pc9 backpacker as a truck gun. Takes glock mags. I can crosslevel ammo and mags from my edc to my PCC with the benefits of improved optic and accuracy. I also like AR500 plates in low viz carrier. I use it 3 times a week as a weight vest while working out, and it doubles for active shooter kit. Spall protection is a must. Keep a pro-mask and black hoodie just incase of riot. Blend into crowd and escape without violence.

Most likely yes. Depends on the frequency you're using. Most digital radios (the Motorola) can transmit on analog.

The only thing I can see going potentially wrong with running the rabbit is if someone shooting around the corner gets a straigh line of sight through the door. The only way I can see someone doing that is if they are waiting to ambush you behind a closed door or if they pop out their firearm last minute while the running rabbit is facing the corner instead of him. Guessing that doesnt become a problem for some reason.

So we got trained on this back in 2007 at SWAT school in Houston, we took it back to our PD and ran it for years, now things have changed and its back to pushing the threat. Iv never understood why you would want to make a larger closing target out of yourself instead of rabbit. SIMS confirmed, Rabbit is hard to beat!

17:00 just curious, what about standing off to the side, reaching over tor crack the door open but not swing then get back out of the way. Letit breathe for a moment to see if anyone inside reacts, then reaching over with the muzzle of your gun on top of the doorknob to pull it open
@Texan_American20 күн бұрын
I disagree, you need a NV setting. I had that Lead and Steel optic and had to get rid of it because the lowest setting would halo out my PVS14. You could see it in daylight even at the lowest brightness which was insane. Passive aiming was literally impossible. So NV settings are highly recommended IMO.

The FP Peq15’s illuminator definitely isn’t the greatest for cqb. But Villain Weapon System makes some accessories that assist with it and they work pretty well. I have their older gen diffusor which has worked nice. They also have a newer one called ALIS which is an aftermarket pattern generator over the IR laser. Which when running the IR laser, it has a 1mm hole to partially allow the laser pass-through, and the rest hits the diffusor creating additional spill. Not a perfect world, but a decent accessory to work with what people have.
