I wish you would give us more detail of the cutting of the dose. How long between cuts and such? The other video said it was only about 2 weeks for a large drop.

It's good when the meds help us get better! I've been on venlaflaxine and mirtazapine to help support me in my weaning off clonazepam which was pure hell without the help of these meds. I'm glad being on the meds for now but once I do get off I'm sure it won't be pure hell like weaning off clonazepam was. The meds also helped a lot in healing inner trauma and implementing psychoterapy in day to day life. I'm getting better day by day and that's the whole point I guess.

Good for you for going off the mirtazapine. I’m still on it and went off clonazepam almost year ago. It was pure hell going off that. I think I’ll be more sensitive to going off mirtazapine than you were.

As someone who has also been on Mirtazapine for 4 years and has experimented a lot with it, I’ve been up to 22 mg (briefly) tapered down 3 times, Twice quickly (don’t recommend that) and the 3rd time very slowly, was off it for 45 days, now back on. Anyway, if you’re taking it only for sleep, Mirtazapine is sedating at 1 mg, so there is no need to take a high dose of this med. Take a low dose when you really need sleep and you won’t have to worry about any side effects.

How long have you suffered with chronic hives? I just started suffering Oct of last year 2023. I am not sure why or what triggered it but here I am. Everyday I wake up covered in hives and I have found I am allergic to dust mites hence the waking up from my room with bed & carpet when I leave my house it dies down.

Trazodone is much more cheaper than mirtazapine. The Z drug is higher still but benzodizepine is very expensive.

I went from 15mg to about 0.9 mg of mirtazapine over the course of 5-6 months (I've been talking it for about a year before that). I still had insomnia from day 4-5 of stopping it completely. For me, the cons of this medicine outweigh the pros. I stopped it sooo slowly and still got rebound insomnia

What you say about the seizure feeling. I also feel like it is seizure like when I dissociate. Like when you experience a jump scare. Also, according to my mom, I had a really strong scare reflex as a baby. Anyone recognise this?

Wow, clicked thumbs up and happened to hit 666 thumbs. Not sure that is a good sign. Right now have been trying Trazadone after being on Ambien for almost 20 years. With Trazadone am dealing with be groggy in the morning, and not getting to sleep for a few hours after taking it. Also am waking up every couple of hours. The really cool side effect is I can count on actually having random dreams. Does that occur with Mirtazapine? It seemed with Ambien I never had dreams. Not too worried about the weight issue since between my diabetic meds suppressed my appetite and have been losing weight constantly. I am going to mention the Mirtazapine but also see what my doctor thinks of the split the pill idea. Thanks so much for sharing this.

My doctor tried to prescribe me this, I'm so glad I stood my ground & insisted on changing to Zoloft instead, because this Effexor stuff sounds like a sh*t drug. I was on 20mg of Escitalopram for about 3 yrs before finally switching to my 50mg of Zoloft/Sertraline, because the effects of the first one eventually wore off upon new developments I didn't have before, like PTSD. Not to mention, I don't think Escitalopram is approved for treating OCD specifically, which I've always had OCD, so perhaps Escitalopram was never the right one for me in the first place, & yet Zoloft "does" treat that. So I think it just happens to manage a wider range of mental illnesses in general. Perhaps due to its interaction with the "other" happy/positive brain chemical too, dopamine (a.k.a the reward chemical?), which is an added perk, but I'm not sure if this only occurs in high doses.

Yeah. Mirtazipine is "dose dependent". Works best for sleep at lower doses. Just makes me crave food and carbs soo bad. I can't sleep without 3 -4 trips to pantry to sneak my daughters snacks 😢
