Very helpful video! I have an off-brand rotary tool with lots of attachments and no information about what they're for. I've been using the tool for years to convert plastic storage totes to litter boxes by cutting out an entrance. Recently I started a project of cleaning up some old, sad, very rusted vent covers in my house (the epitome of a "landlord special"). After manually scraping and sanding as much paint and rust as I could from one of the vent covers I remembered my rotary tool and realized there was probably a bit somewhere in my kit that would work perfectly for getting into the tiny nooks and crannies. This video showed me that I already have 3 very good options for that and no need to go out and purchase any new bits! Yay! Side note: while these vent covers are old, there's no lead paint in them (I tested every layer) so at least that's one danger I don't have to worry about with them. All the random wall and window repairs I'm doing are a different story. Everything is lead and deadly.

Actual video should have been throwing it all in a trash can, hitting order on a $30-60 Amazon china kit and getting a superior product for a third the price. Dremel is one of those brands where you only get a label and zero quality.

Hello, I will watching though as never used a Dremel before and you have perhaps could help me to find perhaps an answer quicker please… I want to make finger pull cut outs in 1/4” plywood boxes I’ve already made. As purchased a few different hardware pulls that all look too much, so want to keep them simple now by cutting out at the top centered a simple shape for my hand to pull the box like a drawer. The boxes are 1/4”ply 6 1/2”wide & 4 1/5”wide so the cut outs for pulls like 2 1/2” just to get few fingers in to slide them off the shelf easily. I live in an apartment so can’t use a loud router. Usually get the lumber yard to precut or mindfully use a handsaw. Think using now a handsaw be tricky especially cuz saw size compared to how small size the cut out is needed and the boxes are already assembled. I do know that plywood can splinter easy so score first has worked very well or using mask tape has also. I thought maybe could use a Dremel like a router or for the shape then sand it cleaner. I’ve got ply to practice and could likely make a jig to trace/copy for if used it like router. What perhaps would you recommend? Router bit in combination with a bit to shape out the bulk? Please if you could include description of recommendations/# of bits so I could find them easily as not at all familiar to figure out if be suitable. I would really appreciate any help! Thanks in advance

If you're a left hander, Right handed instructions get confusing sometimes. I've been backwards with my instructions for years. My golf instructor hated trying to teach me. Hehe.

Very well done, great info presented in a friendly way, appreciate the humor. I'm still using my original Dremel Model 395 I've had for 40 years, had to replace the brushes a couple of times. It's gotten me out of some situations on various projects that no other tool would have. The skills you have developed are impressive, keep up the good work with the tool and videos.

I bought the entry level Dremel. Cost me approx £55. I used it twice for a couple of quick, light Jobs then it died! I contacted Dremel, who I believe are owned by Bosch. They said its just out of warranty so tough luck! Twice honestly.. twice! I will not be buying another Dremel. FU*K YOU Bosch. They wouldn't even give me a good deal on a newer model.

I was a bit worried for you when you held the workpiece in your hand and used the cutting bit. A ring mandrel and mini lathe would be a good investment for you. Carbide scrapers are pretty easy to use.

you said there was a video or something .. explaining how you cut your own sand paper and glue them on the EZ LOCKS ? What sort of glue would you use to get them to stick while sanding ? That was a great idea .. and while I was shopping for some more sanding discs .. I thought about doing the same thing.

Ive never used a Dremel. I bought a 4000 from a friend tday. I want to cut small stones in half, like geodes, brain rocks and such. Im going to buy a diamond cutting wheel tomorrow. Do you think this tool and wheel will work, any suggestions that you have? Thanks Rick
@LogsCarvingClub9 күн бұрын
Hey Rick - yeah the ez545hp or similar cutting wheel should be good. Just keep the dust away (water responsibly, good mask, goggles, etc.). Silica dust is nasty stuff. Let me know how it goes!

Hi there, what do you recommend for carving plastic?
@vampedupretro10 күн бұрын
I appreciate you wearing a respiratory as a needed accessory. People that cut rocks, minerals, or any other type of material made from that must wear at least what you are wearing. Toxic carcinogenic materials are in all them especially quartz. I'm a geologist
