Thank you thank you! I love the fresh new look at prophets as a type. ❤️❤️

Brother Dunford! This is so cool. This week I have been studying about how Ammon is a type of Christ. I made a big list of events paralleled in the lives of Ammon and Jesus. Anyway watching your video you mentioned Ammon and the Sons of Mosiah bring Christ types and “the very thoughts that any soul should endure endless torment did cause them to quake and tremble.” I realized that in my study of Ammon I had neglected a major portion of connections to Christ… I’m referring to their character! I was so focused on “events” that I didn’t study “character.” Driving into Ammon’s character teaches a ton about Jesus’ nature. Ammon: - Can’t stand that a single soul should perish - Desires to dwell among the Lamanites for a time perhaps until the day he dies (Christ dwelt among us and became one of us until He died) - Wasn’t afraid when the kings servants were afraid at the waters of Sebus - Puts his own life in the line defending king Lamoni, defends him, and asks for nothing for himself in return - Frees his brothers from prison and weeps at their suffering - He falls to the earth in pure joy reuniting with good brethren who were “still his brethren in the Lord) - Was moved with compassion and acted like a savior when the anti Nephi lehies were in danger giving them his land of Jershon - Alma 26 he is filled with joy gratitude and thanksgiving giving God all glory (Christ rejoices in our success and gives glory to Heavenly Father) Ammon’s character teaches us so much about Christ’s character! Here are some the other “event” connections as well: Ammon as a Christ type • son of a king • Forsakes the kingdom • Descends down to wicked land (Zarahemla to Lamanites) • Becomes servant (kings daughter to servant) • Shepherd to defend the sheep • Bound and judged by wicked leaders • Preachs the gospel • Works miracles • Raises the dead (Lazarus and Kimg Lamoni) • Resurrects (Ammon rises from trance) • Delivers brethren from prison (Christ spirit world and Ammon brothers from prison ch20) • Changes the heart and converts the people • Anti Nephies take the name of Ammon (People of Ammon We Are converted and become People of Christ • Delivers and rescues people from death (anti Nephi lehites to Jershon) • Ammon name meaning and etymology “master workman; architect; firmness, faithfulness” “[my god is] faithfulness.” “Worker of Jehovah” “chief servant of the God,”

Us: I hate to bother you, but could you please help me? Christ: Thank you so much for asking! It would be my pleasure. I have been waiting anxiously!

Unfortunately, it’s far too often: Us: I would ask Him, but I don’t want to bother Him. He’s probably annoyed with me for asking so many times; I make so many mistakes. Him: Please ask! I am never annoyed. My greatest desire is to help and bless you.

I love how much you reference Elder Maxwell for I have learned so much about the Atonement of Christ from studying his masterful sermons. The awful arithmetic of the Atonement of Jesus Christ is "enormity multiplied by infinity."

Wondering why the Lectures on Faith, are not back in to the D&C? They were there until 1921. More words from Joseph Smith - because we are now very anemic about the Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith in our church study. We only get the first vision story from the pulpit. And no member of the church has not experienced that story before. Great video...thank you. Love the connection with the Holy Ghost.

I agree that they should be studied frequently. I use Lectures on Faith constantly in my classroom, as well as the King Follett Discourse and The Sermon in the Grove. Classics from the Prophet. But I also agree with the decision to remove them from the standard works as they were not received as revelation. They don’t fit with the other revelations that were.
