Also you dont need to make a 1 person farm, its better to make big farms because you can underpopulate them without any big production differences

for anyone wondering, if you have a problem with trees, you can start out as norsemen, starting your civilization on an area with pine trees, right in the beginning you'll be able to farm 1000 wood easily, and when you're in the mid game you have an option to have 30% more wood yield for pine trees when you level up your town hall. once you have all of this you'll get about 10 wood per tree

Poor game design when importing is better than making. Importing should be an option. Not a good option next to growing or making. Doing it yourself should always be better. If it's not it's poor game design.

My favorite strategy is going with the Northmen into the Nord, find a spot with 3 to 5 gold mines, a bit of coal, and go wood+mushroom for the food. No farm, No nothing. The advantage is that the gold is scalable and will keep up all game, at first, you sell the gold ore for quite a lot, then you smelt it into gold bars and sell for more, then you can even push it further, you can directly smelt the gold into gold coins, after that, you can craft Jewelry or Pocket watches for late game. Don't build any other production. Just buy all the resources you need with that ton of gold!

Fishing lodges for.Norse are great with the starting game 50% prod boost, plus the thing I think you over look with fishing lodge is that they don't take up much flat land

You didn't cover food problem. I may have expanded rapidly but everything went absolutely fine. Only til the animals just magically disappeared and my hunting lodges did NOTHING and my food supply just took a nose dive to starvation, tried killing every sheep and pig on the farms but that did nothing. 100 people died or left the city before I gave up. I tried to expand my farms to have a wide supply of food along with beekeeper, fruit gatherer etc. Didn't do much for me. I was drowning in gold though but the trade limits made it hard to buy enough to make a difference.

Thank you so much for your video - really appreciate your great work and helping others. I disagree on one point only. When playing on Deity I was watching very closely how citizens were using medicine. They would quit their job as soon as they would loose just one point of health and regardless whether it was the med-plant or more expensive medicine they would use it to heal that one point! So in all my games I stopped using the expensive medicine as to me its as inefficient as fishing lodges or coal mines. The only time it would make sense to use it, is when the medicine is so far away that by the time your citizen gets there he would loose a lot of health - then the expensive medicine heals more than the cheap one - but I would rather question the village design if they have too walk super far to get the medicine, so overall the expensive medicine is not worth it.

Played coop with a friend of mine and didn’t look at any sort of tutorial. main city at 500 pop way too early which led to a bunch of issues but we (somewhat) saved it. looks absolutely awful though land-use wise

hahaha, i made a comment about the coal vs charcoal in your other video prior to seeing this, now the charcoal makers being more accomodating for placement purpose. does make the use of them much more compelling

so, as i tend to play and restart often (due to learning newer things) i almost always go for coal mines, yes it could be better to use charcoal makers, but wood is super annoying to manage in early game. Coal mines tend to offset that issue and save wood. i almost always set up wood production outside of my central province and keep it going using foresters. and it keeps up. but....all information is good information.

Great tip, once you're able to trade with AI you can spend 5k for 50 villagers, great when alot of peeps just died or something The AI does need at least 30 peeps themselves though I think, and it can take a while for them to grow again

the ranches r trash these days, i would build 20-30 sheep or cattle in groups of 4 with a granary in the middle and 2 books each, not super useful.

I have my trading posts away and in a big bunch and have never seen any of the little people going there.

the first thing you need to look at is placement you can build 7 tiles out so putting your city on the far side of a island is not a good idea.

Before watching and knowing almost nothing about the game, my guess is you will just get all of your people drunk and high to get by not feeding them. Yay Beer and Cannabis!

I thought this game was gonna be different from what it was. It's kinda weak as a city builder as well as weak conflict with other players. I only wanted to play it as a city builder, but it's a bit too simple. Anno is a much more worthwhile experience

How did you grow so large, and get such a large population, by year 5? I haven't played the game on the easier difficulties yet, so I might be mistaken, but your city seems impossible to me. I am kind of asking if your footage is from an actual playthrough since I want to know if I should be capable of expanding that quickly.
