I love your channel not only because you’re the only one that provides great info on this game, but your thought is so clear and it seems like you have a solid personality.

My favorite strategy is going with the Northmen into the Nord, find a spot with 3 to 5 gold mines, a bit of coal, and go wood+mushroom for the food. No farm, No nothing. The advantage is that the gold is scalable and will keep up all game, at first, you sell the gold ore for quite a lot, then you smelt it into gold bars and sell for more, then you can even push it further, you can directly smelt the gold into gold coins, after that, you can craft Jewelry or Pocket watches for late game. Don't build any other production. Just buy all the resources you need with that ton of gold!

Coming back to say this stray worked great in multiplayer, only issue is getting them up and running in the early game considering you usually need to clear a lot of woods to start them. Need to get some hunting lodges down for early food because the sheep won’t start producing till later and you will get surpassed to the town hall lvl3 spike. I’m thinking of a duo start of immigration huts like the no food challenge to get through early game which would make the first year easier. Going to try it out.

The first year or two with this strategy are tough for sure. I think either using fruit/hunting or immigration could allow you to survive until your ranches start producing. I haven't fully figured out the best way to approach the very early game, so don't know which is better.

@@zaethosgames8671 its been a year, have you figured it out yet. im new to the game and want to try this strategy but even after 5 years im unable to get it running. it would be very helpful if you could make like a time-lapse video of reaching this stage from start.

TLDR; Unused population is very bad for this play style. So I just started this game and this is a common strategy in city builders. My advice is for you to not care about the population to money made ratio as much at this point. Why? Because you have a lot of unused population. Unused population doesn't contribute to the money making. Put them to work making clothes or something. As long as you make more selling the clothes than selling the wool straight up to make it. Another thing is to make side industries that keep the city running smoothly. Removing a cost is just as important as making money. Some costs are negotiable but some aren't. One of those costs are iron tools. I have a side industry that is just a few smelters and a few blacksmiths and I import iron. I spend 600ish gold on the import and that small side industry removes the cost of importing iron bars and tools plus I sell the excess tools for major profit. I make around 100k a season off of exports and I only have a population of about 200 because I'm dumb and started on an island. The only major bottleneck is the research. If I could spend money on the research tree I would be done with it all.

Hehe, you're so right. I realized the sheep power when I played my colony on the desert. So powerful and easy at any difficulty XD

did they nerf ranches? I tried this on diety and I kept afloat for a while but I'm getting nowhere near these numbers
@kaskyable Жыл бұрын
Could be, since the developer is quite active. I see them collect and respond to players' comments all the time.
@Joegengstah Жыл бұрын
@@kaskyable roger that. I was able to win and expand big on the newest patch doing ranches on the savannah biome so it still works, but for me it required a lot of min-maxing how I used the space so workers didnt have to walk far. Definately wasn't as easy of a start as it used to be I think
@milkshake9394 Жыл бұрын
@@Joegengstah I definitely think it was nerfed a bit, still viable on the savannah though due to the quite significant biome buffs.
@Joegengstah Жыл бұрын
@@milkshake9394 yeah was able to find setups that worked and allowed me to succeed on savannah diety, but was quite hard on my first tries on that patch 3 months ago until I min maxed a bit. luckily auto trading is a thing otherwise it would be a nightmare to manage the excess. never had better economy than my savannah playthroughs because of the effeciency per worker that ranches have, so ended up being able to solve most problems with money. Very true to life

What a horrible way to play a game. Worse by the design the Devs should not let you even do it.
