Does it have any benefits over the drone 1, other than the smith machine?
@ScienceBasedFitness24 минут бұрын
It's a different cable setup. I'll be 💯 with you. I liked the drone 1 more. If a smith machine is a deal breaker, then go with the 2. But the drone 1 was great.
@Jimmy-hs7zi13 минут бұрын
@ScienceBasedFitness i was just wondering if having 2 weight stacks made the cables have less play in them or any difference in the range of motion? I don't really want a Smith machine, I've never used one in any gym I've ever been in. But I haven't been in the gym in quite a few years now, and i've gotten older, 58 yrs this year and i'm losing muscle and strength. So I wanted to start working out again at home. I think i'm gonna go with the drone one. Thanks for the video and feedback.

@ScienceBasedFitness6 күн бұрын
Well, that's not good! If you want to grow properly, you need to eat more, and more of a balance diet. Fats, protein, and carbs all have biological functions. Fats aid in hormone regulation. Testosterone production and muscle development are all important at your age. I recommend talking to a professional about improving your diet.

What's the diff between Drone 2 and the B52?
@ScienceBasedFitness17 күн бұрын
Drone 2, is 2 by 2 posts and slightly different pulleys. The b52 is 3 by 2 posts, and the Smith machine are a step up. I'm not sure how i think more barrinings, just a better feel.

I've been lifting since 2018 and I can only just about hit 180 on the bench at 214 body weight. I'm also 45, so I'm not a young guy anymore. But I could barely lift a 45 on each side when I started.
@ilyab.5127Ай бұрын
Intermediate in this website is top 1-2% of the general population. Which makes you a very impressive lifter. Someone who is young, trains wih consistency for one rep max, with proper nutrition and recovery for 2 years (plus some luck without serious injuries). The average will be somewhere around 50kg bench, 60kg squat and 60-70kg deadlift imo.

Like the setup and back wall. Quick question since you live somewhere cold; are you planning on insulating the walls or on of the walls to help keep that space warm during the winter?
@ScienceBasedFitnessАй бұрын
Sorry, I didn't see the comment right away. Yes, I've been doing it for the last 2 weeks. I've been buying 1-inch thick Insulation board and cutting it to size. I've only been doing the ceiling since that's where most heat is lost. I also got an indoor safe propane heater. The temp goes from 35 to 55 in an hr. I'll talk more about it when I do a full gym breakdown video soon.

How is the smith machine when you have weights on it does it latch Back smoothly when your rack it back on the hooks?
@ScienceBasedFitnessАй бұрын
Latching is no problem. I always recommend using some type of lubricant on the rails so it glides smoother. We didn't have any when filming, but overall, the Smith machine aspect is like 6.5 or 7 out of 10.
@hawaiianquicksilvahtundraАй бұрын
Thanks for the fast response. My next question which cage do you prefer drone 1 or 2 ?
@ScienceBasedFitnessАй бұрын
@hawaiianquicksilvahtundra no problem. The drone 1. I don't use the Smith machine enough to justify it. If your someone who really likes the Smith, then this is a great option.
@hawaiianquicksilvahtundraАй бұрын
@@ScienceBasedFitness thanks for the fast response again. I’m in the market of getting a home gym and been looking at both the drone 1 and 2 and also the f22 but since your reply I’m leaning towards the drone 1.
@ScienceBasedFitnessАй бұрын
@hawaiianquicksilvahtundra i have the b52 as my main rack. I would go f22 out of all of these. It's has 3x2 posts, it's essentially the b52 without the smith. The drones are both 2x2, which is fine, but I the the F22 is worth the slightly higher price tag. But, get what u can. I used a wood bench for squats and pressing for years, lol

53, 6 ft 205lbs. Been running for decades over 2,000 miles per year average and,lifting weights 3-4 times a week. I run because my heart rate is similar to guys my age that walk. As for my hunger, they both are the same so I prefer the running instead of walking due to competitive running events (half, marathons). I’m jacked for my age and still can run faster than 90% of guys half my age. I can imagine how fast I can run if I was 50-60lbs lighter like some of my running club friends. However, I like the way my body looks and skinny fat running body is not attractive according to the woman.

Keep grinding . But remember peak strength is harder to maintain than year round strength as I like to call it. Build up your lbm with a typical higher rep hypertrophy program. Dont forget to deload.
@Full60Ай бұрын
I see guys take their thumbs out of the loop before lifting. Does it matter?
@ScienceBasedFitnessАй бұрын
It's meant to stabilize your wrists, so those thumb loops are not needed. I really like using them. It gives an anchor point, but. I've used so wraps they pull aquwardly on my thumbs and almost causing me to lose the weight. I assume that's why some people don't do it. But like I mentioned, as long as the wrist are stable that's the main thing.
@axeriste3494Ай бұрын
I think its just a comfort or preference, I hate the thumb loop, I only use it to put the wraps on and then I let it go or take it off once I got my wrap on

Spider-man is stronger than Cap, and it's not even kinda close. The elite figures are close but a bit lower than what was expected of linemen coming in from off season although on bench the req was a min 25 reps of 225lbs but most guys warmed up with 20 at 225 and could put up 350+ once but our lifting coaches/trainers strongly discouraged one x maxes, as it does seem unsusally capable of injuring lifters.

I use the Lifesum app for calorie management but never bothered to track my water intake since 1. I just drink when I’m thirsty. 2. I didn’t know it actually is impactful for my body’s ability to burn fat. This makes me wonder though, what does the literature say about the definitions of hydrated vs dehydrated. How is the measured? Blood work? Skin tension testing? Maybe it’s obvious but this got me thinking 😂
