Mouth taping at night makes my blood pressure go way up. I have tried 4 separate times over the years. I am usually around 115/75 and after two weeks of mouth taping I was at 150/85. It takes weeks for it to come down to normal when I stop.

You might try a humming a tune for pity’s sake. 😊 You act like you’re dispensing ‘treatment’.

this works, I noticed I was near constantly congested and struggling to breathe despite my oximeter reading a constant 99-100% SP02. I figured I might have been breathing too much to much and depleting too much C02. This led me here and the exercise instantly unblocked my nose. Will continue to do this and increase my control pause, right now I can't hold my breath for long because my body isn't used to lower c02 levels yet

Fascinating discussion. Robin's health history rings very familiar to me - every childhood winter spent constantly coughing, finding health as an adult only for all those coughing issues to come flooding back now (in my 60s) I've only just come across your videos. I definitely notice significant improvements in my lungs since trying this slow light breathing. I'd love to know more about the positive effects on asthma: do you have any videos/ books/ training specifically on the beneficial effects on this condition?

Its insane how many problems are caused by mouth breathing. Someone needs to estimate the yearly medical costs by country that could be eliminated.

About 7 years ago after being diagnosed with sleep apnea, I found this documentary, bought a book on breathing (author Sally Gething) with instructions and adopted the method for about 6 months. It not only cured the sleep apnea (within 1 month) but since that time I rarely get a cold (maybe 2 x 24hr cases in 7 years), have never contracted Covid (not that I'm aware of anyway) and even my typical once or twice per year tonsillitis events have disappeared. Strangely I have offered the book to friends and family members who suffer respiratory issues including asthma but no-one is even interested. It's an unfortunate sign of the times that if people have to apply a little effort themselves then they would rather go to the doctor for some drug with side-effects than consider a natural remedy.

Patrick doesn't mention whether there's a preferred frequency of humming. So think 130Hz (C below middle C). It feels right to me, but I don't know whether women or others with higher voices can comfortably hum that note.

Wonder how a doctor delivering important information to people with severe disorders like apnea, allows that maiplaced backing noise, destroying the concentration on the speech to most of us.

It needs to be said that, you get the same benefit from humming without closing off the ears and eyes with your hands. Also, very reliable research has been done in Sweden that, you receive the most Nitric Oxide in the first four breaths you take. After that, there is no benefit. So, it is recommended that you wait three minutes before doing another four breaths.
