Why are you filming shooting pintail when NE are considering banning the shooting of these birds?
@norfolkfowlers19739 ай бұрын
I think you’ll find I was filming us missing Pintail not shooting them. Also, it’s 100% legal to shoot this species and their world wide population is not under threat. Pretending we don’t do what we are allowed to do makes no sense. If they are removed from the quarry list they’ll never come back as nothing removed ever does. Thank you for your comments though. 👍

Nice vid again, thanks. Can I ask a question. I'm new to coastal wildfowling though not shooting itself. When fowlers say 'tide flight' what does that mean in terms of the tide. I have some shooting on two estuaries with lots of wigeon and am trying to plan shooting around the tides. Is a typical tide flight from Low tide up, when they are being forced up the estuary and channels? any tips would be appreciated Richard?
@norfolkfowlers197310 ай бұрын
Great question and typically it’s when we have a big tide, the sea water goes over the green (vegetation) and the birds can dabble picking up all the seed. However, each estuary is different and I have some spots that shoot better at the bottom of the tide than at the top. I also have areas where the tide coming up doesn’t do anything. Learning your area of salt marsh is key and you’ll need to spend lots of time out, during different tides and weather conditions to learn what is best for each area. 👍

Very rare for us to get them inland but plenty at the coast. A lot of the coastal clubs have limits on distance so are hard to join but there are a few like Fenland that offering coastal shooting in north Norfolk and Kent also have some shooting in North Norfolk with no membership restrictions. If you want inland you’re spoilt for choice with Rockland, Norwich and Great Yarmouth offering opportunities.

Great video and a great memory for you and your lad! After watching your video on the Broads i have booked 2 days with The Rocklands Wildfowling club in late October for myself and my 14- year-old son to hopefully create similar memories. Can you suggest were the best place to set up would be and any helpful tips as we have no idea, having never been on this Broad before? Also, we are arriving the day before we are shooting for recon reasons, but we would have time for an evening flight that day if we could join a club on the wildfowl permit scheme. But which would be the best club to ask as there are so many nearby? We will be staying near Loddon . @norfolkfowlers19732 жыл бұрын
Thanks but we picked every bird we hit. They were actually mainly feeding on a sugarbeet field 1/2 a mile away and only really passing by. No goose was shit at more than 45 yards away, so very much in range. Really appreciate your concern though and we do all we can to assure clean kills. Sadly the wide angle of Go pro does at times make shooting look further way than it is. I’d love to afford a £1,000 + camera to put together a Spielberg esq blockbuster but some people would still not like it. All of the birds were eaten. I’d suggest that if you’re vegetarian you not watch footage of birds being harvested by meat eaters.
