I’ve been around the Wonderland twice. Once in 2002 and again in 2007. I plan to go one more time with my grandson before I get too old (70 next month). It’s actually 93 miles around the mountain with average daily elevation change of 2700 feet (up and down). Highest point is 6800 feet. Most people plan 9-12 days to comfortably do the whole loop, although I have a good friend who did it in 3 days, carrying just a day pack. He had food drops prepared for him on days 1 and 2. It’s one of the most beautiful and rewarding trails I’ve hiked over the years.
@AudreyAdventures6 күн бұрын
@@bowman243 I have seen mixed things about if it’s 90 or 93 miles but the app I was using (FarOut) said 90 so I wasn’t sure where that extra 3 miles comes in. Either way, an absolutely fantastic trail!

@@RedCatt423 Really don’t thinking going THAT slow was necessary haha. Our assistant guide, Biraj, also told me he thought the pace was annoyingly slow but it was because we were in a group. Interesting thoughts on pacing. One of the main reasons for having a slow pace above 12,000 ft. is acclimatization. Guides don't want guests to go into "oxygen deficit". It can push the body into the signs/symptoms of HAPE and HACE. Or even worse! I have been guiding for decades in the Himalayas. In 2023 I guided the 3-Pass Loop/Everest Base Camp Trek followed by the Manaslu Trek. We set a slow pace that keeps moving. Not a stop & go pace. Normally when my group gets above 16,000 ft we are passing exhausted hikers on the side of the trail. In 2022 I did 670 miles on the AT in 40 days. That's different due to the low elevation. Averaging 20 miles a day is no issue. I used to own Aspen Alpine Guides in Aspen, Colorado. I was on Mountain Rescue Aspen for over 24 years. Slow and steady is the key in the high peaks. Check out, www.youtube.com/@ronrash5895. Oh and definitely keep your channel going!!! 🙏

I did the Manaslu trek in late Oct/early Nov this year and was really surprised to see the larches (I live in the PNW and enjoy the early October larch madness, so I am pretty sure they are a larch variety) coming out of Shyala into Samagoan. Cool to see inside that temple that is getting finished. There wasn't anyone around and it was locked when we checked it out. Hope you had a great trek! We did.

Horse/mule/donkey sneezes always make me laugh. Good way to start the video. 50+ years ago our cat Punkin(orange cat) would jump up on the coral fence and visit Kim(my sister's morgan horse). They'd sniff each other and one time Kim sneezed. Punkin leaped off the fence and ran for his life. Nice video. Liz Kidder was just saying that some famous guy was there about the same time she was but she didn't know it. Nice video. I like the stone construction. Its much better than I've been able to do.
