Hi Rob, glad to hear your mum's doing OK now. I'll have to check out Foxygen as I really like The Lemon Twigs. That French comp looks good, I keep meaning to do a deep dive on Stereolab, I'm sure it'll happen one day. I don't feel very motivated with checking out new music at the moment for some reason.

@@jamesgriffithsmusic Thanks James, she's really found her legs and there's no stopping her!..it's great to see her ( almost) back to normal. I think you'd enjoy Foxygen, they really mix up the styles and the vocals are cool. Definitely reccomend Pop Psychedelique, a really fun listen. On a separate note, did you know The The are touring this September?.

Evening Rob. Good to hear your mum is getting better and that you are keeping an eye on her. I’ve seen those Pop Psychedelique comps but have to admit I was put off by the addition of the newer material (much as I like Stereolab etc.) Have never seen before that rather gruesome Volunteers inner gatefold (of peanut butter and jelly?) So pleased summer is here, only two weeks ago I was using a hot water bottle!!
@robison5396
@robison5396 Ай бұрын
Hi John Yes, I thought the same about the newer material on Pop Psychedelique, but I guess at least they haven't mixed it up and sensibly placed all the modern tracks on side 4. I agree about Volunteers..bit of a waste of a gatefold..just as well its' a fabulous album. Cheers Rob.

Good to eat about your mom Rob. My mother is visiting me, she is 94 but and definitely a little bit slower but she is still enjoying travel. I have the French psych comp, definitely a fun listen, something interesting. Cheap as Chips, lol, I like that

Aww, thanks Steve..bless our mums' they're so precious aren't they..hope she enjoys her visit with you. French Psych comp is definitely a fun listen isn't it. ' Cheap as chips' ( as in fish and chips) is a bit of a misnomer for UK and US meaning, as ' chips' for you are of course crisps..lol!..also, chips are no longer cheap anymore!..

Hi Rob, glad to hear that your mum's on the mend. I know what it's like trying to restrain an elderly parent from overdoing things - not easy! Nice pick up of the Pink Fairies - I should get around to picking that up - as you said you never see their albums out in the wild. Hope it sounds good. Don't have the Jansch on any format so another one I should get. I did manage to recently pick up quite a few folk albums including an album by his compatriot John Renbourn, along with a Roy Harper, a Michael Chapman, and an ISB. Love Volunteers but hate that inner gatefold! Have a great week... Pete

Thanks Pete My mum is like a supercharged racing car now she's found her feet again!. I know like me you're a big fan of folk..really happy to pick up the Bert Jansch, I have most of his studio albums now. I know what you mean about the inner gatefold of Volunteers, lyrics or credits or indeed a centre spread of the band all smoking dope would definitely have been preferable!. Have a great week. Rob.

Hi Rob - Wow that's quite a span of years on the French psych comp. At least they put the new stuff on the same side, if they'd mixed it all up it wouldn't have worked at all I guess. I had an OG UK pressing of JA-Volunteers, which had a glossy cover, unlike your copy. In comparison to the US OG, the UK press sounded muddy and muffled. I hope that pressing sounds better than the UK pressing I had. If you can locate a US copy, you will be pleased with it.

There was just last few weeks a Joni Mitchell documentary on Radio 4 I'm sure it'll be there it stirred my interest in her as previously they've been sitting, waiting to be dived into. She's very wordy now I like poetry and words but seemed a little OTT well now I know some background maybe more palatable.
