Hi, i was thinking about move to Brazil and whenever i did research about quality of life there, somehow it always gravitated toward one city in the interior of Sao Paulo, and that city is Piracicaba, near Campinas. It's similar to Jundiai regarding the quality of life and crime, but it's also cheaper. I think you should definitely check it out!

Very good List indeed , I would just swap Jundiaí or Blumenau for São José dos Campos also in Sao Paulo Outskirts, which from my perpective is THE BEST BIG CITY to live in Brazil... the reasons: 1 -> São José dos Campos is the first Inteligent city in Brazil, has maybe biggest technological spot in whole latin America; 2-> Headquartes of Jhonson & Jhonson, Panasonic, Embraer, etc... 3-> Murder rates (6,5) below 10 murders per 100thousand inhabitants, which is very good for brazilian standards and very low robery rates; 4-> PERFECT location (1hour drive from GRU airport, the largest International airport in S.America),; 5-> 1 hour 20min. drive to the (Mantiqueira Mountains Range, Monte Verde, Campos do Jordão etc); 6-> 1 hour 10min to North Coast Sea of Sao Paulo (Caraguá, Ilhabela, Ubatuba, Paraty RJ) 7-> Relatively big expat comunity 8 -> Infraestructure (Some of best roads in Brazil (Carvalho Pinto, Tamoios); 9-> Between São Paulo and Rio; 10-> Very Modern and clean city, high income population, high number of doctors per inhabitant, loads of green areas; I would take out Jundai? -> Too close to Sao Paulo Capital, you keep the having the caos feeling of Sao Paulo..heheheh I would take out Blumenau -> Bad location, poor logistics infraestructure (roads to reach are very simple), backwards minded oriented people (of course not all of them, but many)

Hahaha! OK! The worst government we had in the history of Brazil was from 2018 to 2022, under the command of "bozo" aka Bolsonaro. More than 700 thousand lives lost, thanks to the denialism from the "minto"! Federal police tampering, misappropriation of funds from NGOs in the Amazon, facilitating the lives of illegal miners, crimes against the environment, against indigenous peoples, over 100 properties bought with cash! Neighbor, friend of a militia member, isolation of Brazil on the global political scene, isolation at the G7 meeting, which was an embarrassment because the "minto" was ignored by both left-wing and right-wing countries! Then a poor person like you, who thinks they are rich, comes here to cry saying that Brazil is like this because of the current government?? Give me a break, right? The "bozo" left a hole of billions for the current government to settle! You guys like to suffer, it must be masochism, the "minto" keeps pushing and you keep taking it.

I was considering a visit to Belo Horizonte next time I visit. During my previous visit in December I spent time in Floripa. I flew there from Montevideo where in 2023 there was a severe drought. The irony is that not too far north there were devastating floods. I am not sure what the people in Floripa are like because I did not have the chance to speak with many people. I have been studying Portuguese every day since last September. It has been easier because I already speak Spanish well ( caveat, easy if you study every day). The people seemed to be a bit more aggressive and the housing prices are definitely higher on the island. I am really looking forward to your review of smaller towns nearby. I have researching, but information from a local who has spent more time in Brazil would be valuable.

I like your list. But yes I would consider the suburb in the city or a nearby town. The summer beach season is full on and soo hot. Good for a young person but a retiree, hmm. Vitoria in winter is much more interesting than the summer (for me). Curitiba is not as cold in winter as I first thought but it is humid. Brasilia has very low humidity which I found uncomfortable. Good airport connections though. Maringa is very hot in summer, very nice in winter. Franca is an interesting one. But none of these is my favorite :)).

I live in Brasília, and I get why people from outside visit and and do not think much of it. Not a great place for tourists. But let me tell you, Brasilia is one of the best cities to live in the world. I'm aware that there's a lot of disparity, surrounding regions are not nearly as well off, but still, many regions, not only Plano Piloto, are great to live in. Plenty of outdoors green areas, little violence, good services in general...public transportation can get tricky due to the horizontal nature of the city, but still...Love it in here, great place for families. One of the best in Brazil for sure. And I've been around outside Brazil quite a bit...It's a great place to live even considering other developed cities worldwide.

Not only Dividends are free of taxes as well as Rents from FIIs (Fundos Imobiliários), which are Brazilian equivalents to REITs in EUA. I prefer to receive Rents from FIIs than from physical properties because they're free of taxes. No tax @ call. Simple like that ! Also, trading FIIs "quotes" (shares/units) is way easier, more versatile and liquid than trading whole properties themselves. One that trades shares will trades FIIs shares (units) very easily as well. Capital gains on selling FIIs (REITs) are taxed however at a fixed rate of 20 %. But on the other hand when you have losses they have the "PREJUÍZOS A COMPENSAR" feature, just as stocks do (mentioned @ another comment here). This is very good !
@nordicinvestor2
@nordicinvestor2 5 күн бұрын
You raise good points about FIIs. I might do a video about this in the future
@joseadrianobaltieri4773
@joseadrianobaltieri4773 7 күн бұрын
Another nice feature related to Capital Gains (or Losses) negotiating Stocks in Brazil is this : say that you sell Stocks with a loss of R$ 38 K. This loss is called "PREJUÍZOS A COMPENSAR". Later on you sell Stocks with a profit of 19 K. You can deduce this gain from the "PREJUÍZOS A COMPENSAR" ammount. Then you'll end up not paying taxes on this latest sell and your "PREJUIZOS A COMPENSAR" will go down from 38 to R$ 19 K. Moreover "OS PREJUÍZOS A COMPENSAR NÃO PRESCREVEM, MESMO DE UM ANO PRO OUTRO". IOW you can "carry on" this features on the years ahead and thus, deduce from your future gains. There's even a field at the "DECLARAÇÃO ANUAL DE IR" where you mention this figure. But usually the stock market calculations, mostly when you trade options, are very complicated. There are several "CALCULADORAS AUTOMÁTICAS DE IR" on the Internet that you can use. I use a product called myProfit , which is very good.

I think you might record a video talking about differences between houses in Brazil & Europe (or EUA). For instance, in Brazil it's completely UNNACEPTABLE a house not having a "LAVANDERIA" with a "TANQUE". Even small apartments have the so called "ÁREA DE SERVIÇO" (I'm Brazilian). Should I move to Europe I would MISS THAT A LOT ! On the other hand, in Europe the Washing Machine is usually at the Bathroom ! How can I wash my clothes on the bathroom sink ? Or at the shower ? LOL ! NOT ACCEPTABLE AT ALL !This is ABSOLUTELY WEIRD 4 me ! The toilet & the paper is another difference you've mentioned elsewhere. Also, the water heating here is mostly via "Chuveiros Elétricos". This is waayyyyyy, way different than Europe , with their "Caldeiras". The electrical power supply here is very different too. Most of medium class houses are two tensions : 110/220 Volts whereas Europe is generally 220 only (I presume). Also, the "Garagens" here are mostly for car parking and not a place where you do repairs of the house, like Americans do. Houses that do have that space use to have a "quartinho dos fundos" , where men usually have their tools and stuff like that. Usually grandpas have those kind of room. By the way, your house is a wooden one, that is very "de boa" for Europeans. But that 4 us brazilians it's very unusual. Only in South of Brazil you have those kind of houses. Going up north, as you know, the majority of houses are of bricks (and many, many with "TIJOLO BAIANO ou BLOCOS DE CONCRETO"... Anyway ! Lots of things 4 U to talk about ! Another difference is the "SÓTÃO". On other countries, "O SÓTÃO É HABITÁVEL & UTILIZÁVEL". Think of Holland for instance. Here in Brazil the houses that do have a "SÓTÃO" have them locked and separated from the inside house, mostly due to security reasons.It's usually an abandoned space @ the houses... Best wishes !

Wouldn't say that at all. Brasília has incredible cuisines, kind people, the country's best infrastructure, best educational systems (both private and public), abundance of public and private hospitals, and it is generally a comfortable and cozy place to live in. @lucassullivan2109 despite not liking brasilia, I really respect your opinion, it surely win compared to some US cities, but personally, it just doesn't suit me, no problem at all if it suits you, its jus not for me, I need college dorms, as I genuinely have nowhere to stay while I study medicine, but in US they have cheap and relatively decent college dorms, while it doesn't have on UnB, Catolica or most colleges in brasilia, I would personally go to Italy, as I learned to speak italian from 0, and Italy has cheaper housing prices compared to US or Brazil

At the start of the video the builder has told you it would take 3-4 months before it's finished while you said it'll take longer. I'm a bit surprised at even the 3-4 months so I don't understand. Kitchen and bathroom furniture are in BZ done by the buyer. Flooring. doors, windows, landscaping, etc... are to be done by the builders. I'm looking at this with North American eyes and work practices (sorry) so I don't understand and am looking for possible explanations. Are these kind of week-ends builders only ? Can you please shed some light on this and set me straight ? Thanks.
@nordicinvestor2
@nordicinvestor2 11 күн бұрын
You are right that the work that needs to be done is flooring, doors, windows landscaping, painting, fencing which can be done in probably 1-2 months if the builder is efficient and organized but that is seldom the case. Also after that the local council need to inspect the house and register it which is usually not done quickly and takes a couple of months. This needs to be done before you can buy it and move in.

@@nordicinvestor2 Now I get it. Delays with builders and after with bureaucracy lol. I'm curious why BZ builders are seldom efficient and organized ? Bad habits, fiesta-thinking, other reasons ?
