Good luck! I hope they work for you. I bought those for my 71 Chevelle. They look great in my car. But……they are junk. I’ve had 3 of those driver seats (Warrantied) and all of them wouldn’t hold me up. I had to do some welding on one of them and that did help but still junk. China Junk! I ended up spending more than I wanted to on a set of original front bucket seats for my car.

Did yours clear your headers? I’m debating headers since a 383 is going in it and I don’t want the live gate relationship if burned plug boots, wires, and such. What headers do you have?
@stevesgarage7644

Yes it cleared the headers fine, but I do not like the headers I have. I have the driver-side where the #1 position goes up and over the other three to the back of the firewall. If i did it over again, I'd get the ones that drop straight down on each pipe. There is plenty of room to do that. Mine causes me such a major pain getting to the sparkplugs for #3/5/7. Don't make that mistake!

Yes it did for the most part. But I did have to adjust the tierods to get it dead on. The reason was there was so much slop in the old box that it never was accurately centered before.

No, I used the McLeod hydraulic clutch kit. Like this one. www.summitracing.com/parts/mcl-1434002/make/chevrolet/model/nova/year/1972 No shimming the clutch at all. I bought the Monster clutch kit that included the flywheel from monsterclutches.com. It's a dream to drive on the street, but know that there is no soft-type engagement like you'd get with a stock clutch. I wouldn't say grabby, but it's solid for sure.

Hey Steve, Didn't mean to pi** you off but I seem to do that to everyone so don't feel like you are singled out. I have a question about your other video when you put the sound deadening material in your car. I have the same stuff but just haven't put it down yet. You said you hoped it would quieten down the fuel pump. Did it ? I have a holley blue pump on mine and it does make quiet a bit of noise. Did the insulation help ?
@stevesgarage7644
@stevesgarage7644 11 ай бұрын
I can't say that it deadens the loud fuel pump sounds. Mine was pretty loud, a lot like yours I'm sure. The sound deadening material is designed to stop sheetmetal rattle, or having it reverberate sound like a speaker does. So it takes care if a lot of road noise. The field pump emits a high pitch sound due to air bubbles in the fuel, especially if the pump is higher than the tank, which mine was. The only true way to deaden fuel pump noise is to have the pump inside the fuel tank. Those are MUCH quieter than external pumps. Or do your research for reviews of pumps that are not so loud. Some are quieter, but they likely pump less volume to keep them quiet.

Hi Steve, I did a rear end gear change in my 8.5" and that turned ugly real fast. Initially I was going to check the right rear wheel bearing because it was making noise. Easy Right. Not so fast! I drained the oil (previous owner told me the diff was worked on) and need to removed the pinion cross shaft bolt. Put a wrench on it and it just loosened with little effort. Weird. whoever worked on the diff snapped that pin and just put it back!!!! I know the previous owner and he did not know that. I trust him. I tried everything to get that pin out. Even a tool designed to remove the broken pin. Nothing worked. Talk about being depressed. Called a couple of rear end shops and all said good luck! What a nightmare. I covered everything like an operation room and used a Dremel tool and cut out the pin that was stuck and totally destroyed the open differential that was in there. Replaced everything and went with an Eaton Posi and new ring and pinion. My God....Just to check a wheel bearing noise. Just have to laugh!

@@stevesgarage7644 Steve, When you replaced your ring and pinion did you replace all the bearings and races? Carrier bearings and the pinion bearings? Along with a new crush sleeve? That crush sleeve pre-load was ridiculous to achieve. 14-19 inch pounds. I had a 3' breaker bar with a section of pipe on it. Had to hit 300 foot pounds to crush the sleeve then measure. Not enough then try again still not enough try a third time went over!! Come on man give me a break. Luckily my install kit from Yukon came with 2 crush sleeves like they know your going to screw up. So I did it over again but still went over to 22 inch pounds. Forget it!! I back the big nut off ever so slightly and hit 15 in/lb. If that makes the bearings fail I'll buy something else! Really like you car man.

Hello, I'm going to be installing a hydraulic TB soon on my 71 Camaro. I will have to install a hydraulic clutch too. Naturally the fenders have some rust behind the wheels. I'm positive they came from the factory with rust holes in those locations :) I need to remove the fenders to properly repair the rust and the bracing. With the fender removed removing the inner wheel well is just some bolts. I'm thinking that should really open up access to that area. What do you think? Thanks!

Without pictures of what you're trying to achieve, it's hard to give advice, but it sounds like the main part is to fix the rust so it sounds like you have to remove those fenders etc. to get to it all.
